Donkey Kong and Princess Peach voice actors replaced in Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World is out now and some players have noticed that the voice actors for Donkey Kong and Princess Peach have changed for the first time in many years. Takashi Nagasako had voiced Donkey Kong since 2004 and Samantha Kelly had voiced Princess Peach, Toad and Toadette since 2007. Kelly posted on Instagram to say that she was only contacted a few days ago by Nintendo who informed her that they were letting her go. Both names are missing from the ending credits and it’s not clear who their replacements are though it’s thought that Koji Takeda, voices DK.

  1. I noticed it yesterday in the credits and their names wasn’t on the credits. I’m still glad Samantha Kelly managed to stick around for that long until Switch 2 was released. It’s sad that she wasn’t notified by Nintendo about her firing sooner.

That’s unfortunate though I’m guessing their contract ended. Very few VAs keep their roles in perpetuity like Goku and Vegeta’ VAs.

  3. Guys, I can finally tell you that I’ve been hired as the new voice for DK, Peach, Toad, and Geno.

Oops… I wasn’t supposed to say that last one.

  4. The VA are irrelevant, Nintendo needs to reverse their idiotic virtual game card nonsense and give us back proper game sharing. Why they pulled this anti-consumer move is baffling, and many families are now going to stop supporting because of this nonsense.

I never did get the online expansion subscription because the digital n64 games are like rentals, not for keeps. It’s a scam to me.
