Rumour: Sakurai asked Nintendo for Kirby Air Riders as negotiation for another Smash Bros

A rumour is doing the rounds online that the talented Masahiro Sakurai negotiated with Nintendo to produce the new and upcoming Kirby Air Riders game. The rumour from kiwitalkz states that Nintendo wanted Mr. Sakurai to produce another Smash Bros game for the Nintendo Switch, but as he was burnt out on the franchise after developing the comprehensive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, he said he would only do if if he was able to produce another Kirby Air Riders game. The rumour steams from an X account which has been posting a lot of Nintendo-related rumours lately, though it should be taken with a grain of salt.

  1. No, but to pressure to get what he wants…I hope this is false otherwise Sakurai is falling in my esteem…

    1. I hope this is false too. This is the man who would rather let a plant be playable in smash than Waluigi. Can’t they hire someone more competent, like a hobo, to make the next smash? If Sakurai want’s people to stop “harassing” him, he has to stop making excuses and give us what we want.

      1. Waluigi is a terrible character. I’m glad Sakurai stood his ground on that one as well as Geno. Though he sadly did cave on Ridley which look silly as hell shrunk down.

        1. To each their own because I think Ridley looks great! Now Kraid! That’s the one that’s too damn big! Lol Joking aside, no one is too big or small to be in Smash Bros. Pikachu should only be a few inches but is almost half the size of Mario. Olimar should be the size of the Pikmin, if not smaller, with the Pikmin being barely visible because they’d be even smaller than that. Besides, it’s Super Smash Brothers. It’s not supposed to be taken seriously. It’s all silly & is meant to celebrate Nintendo, anyway. It’s whatever, though, because… I got my playable Ridley & there’s nothing anyone can do about it! Muahahah! 😈

        2. Smash is a silly party game, so i don’t see why Ridley is an issue?
Unless you’re one of those sweats who thinks it’s a serious fighting game, too bad, enjoy your blow up doll Samus as a reminder to who’s buying the games.

      2. Until Waluigi has any sort of presence in a mainline Mario or Wario game OR gets his own game, he has no business being a character in Super Smash Bros. Daisy, at the very least, originated from Super Mario Land, and Wario originated as the main antagonist from Super Mario Land 2. Waluigi’s never had any presence outside of spinoff/party games.

      3. You think a hobo is “more competent” than Sakurai at making Smash Bros? That’s incredibly rude and disrespectful to the man who CREATED THE SERIES.

      4. You Waluigi guys gotta let it go. Piranha Plant deserves it’s spot more than Waluigi does. Besides, he’ll probably get his turn in Smash eventually.

        Just gotta be patient.

          1. To be patient for Waluigi in Smash? Probably. But you know who else we were told would never get into Smash? Ridley.

(Now if only Ninty would add Lemmy into Mario Kart World… 😭)

    2. Why would you think less of someone because he or she negotiated? I’m sorry, but your response makes no sense.

    3. Utter madness response lmao Sakurai using his influence to actually get to make a game he wants to make isn’t a problem at all. Its completely morally acceptable and I cannot even fathom why you would think otherwise.

  2. Rumors and leaks aren’t worth reporting on, they’re typically made up or stolen, and we real gamers absolutely do NOT support POS thieves.

    1. Absolutely braindead take. This is one of the most desired sequels by hundreds of thousands of people for 20 years.

  3. plus, sakurai should be allowed to make what he wants, people treat him as a smash bros slave at this point, i’m glad he’s doing something else if it means he doesn’t get burnt out because people don’t shut up

  4. This sounds fake and real at the same time. I will not believe this until I hear it from the man himself, although he has expressed many times he is burned out by developing smash a lot
