Mario Kart World is an excellent video game though it is currently being outsold by the 2017 title Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch. The information was shared in the recent US video game sales from sales tracker Circana. Mario Kart World slipped from 1st to 6th in the Nintendo Switch software charts. while Mario Kart 8 Deluxe rose from 7th to 4th. Of course, it is worth noting that the original Nintendo Switch has a massive user base compared to Nintendo Switch 2. It should also be noted that digital sales weren’t factored into the equation.
Like are you guys even surprised? This isn’t about the quality of the game there are very few people who can afford a switch 2, I still haven’t seen one in real life
Really because I’ve seen them sitting in multiple retails for weeks now. It would appear the switch 2 isn’t as much of a hit with these dog shit games like everyone thought it would be. What are the odds of that?
Agreed. I bought a Switch 2 on FOMO and the whole “your turn in the lottery system, buy within a week!” thing, and it’s just been utterly disappointing. MK8 is more fun and overall better than MK World, third-party games are like 1080p 30FPS most of the time, and devs are gonna start using DLSS more to compensate for the weak hardware. As an RTX 4080 owner who’s tested all the upscaling techniques in over a dozen times and livestreamed the process live, I’ve gotta say that DLSS is the worst by far and Digital Foundry can’t be trusted for their input on the matter because Nvidia literally sponsors them.
I’ll begrudgingly keep my Switch 2 for exclusives, but it’s mainly just good for Switch 1 games at more stable framerates. I don’t expect the Switch 2 to sell even half the units of the original model, wish I’d just emulated my Switch game collection at higher framerates and resolutions.
I’m not surprised mario kart wii was still selling way better than mk8 and even mk8 deluxe before it got the huge dlc tracks expansion, I feel like people also forget the that they always sell a pretty cheap mk8 deluxe bundle with switch online during black Fridays season it’s a good game but their are other factors that make it sell well.

Which definitely has something to do with the switch having a bigger user base than switch 2 since it’s new and has only been out like 2 month I do agree eith you tentri I just think people should give it a year since there aren’t really that many first party games.
Absolutely, I’m not saying that mk world will never surpass deluxe, as of right now? No. The system needs more games and a price cut in my opinion
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the Better Game in my Opinion. World is all over the place, mostly racing on straight paths between the courses and said courses aren’t memorable at all.

I agree, look at the chart, deluxe was #1 last month while 8 was #7. Most people got MK world with their system so it is no surprise the sales have dropped.
Its funny because I mostly play Switch 1 games on my Switch 2. But that’s mostly because Nintendo isn’t announcing enough games for their platform at the moment. I thought by now we would have seen at least one more dedicated Nintendo Direct announcing primarily Nintendo IPs coming to the platform for the holiday season and early to mid 2026. At the moment, Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong are the only notable games to release with only Kirby Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors 3, and Pokémon Legends Z&A in the pipeline for its future Nintendo releases.
It doesn’t surprise me that Switch 1 is outselling Switch 2 games. The platform was a massive success last generation, it already has a huge userbase, the console and games are cheaper, and most importantly it has a massive game library where the Switch 2 gets a pass being new but it should be outlining its near future better.
I think you got spoiled from the absolutely insane first year the switch 1 had, when nintendo had just suffered through the entire wiiu era. that’s not going to happen with the switch 2. launching 5 huge first party titles within 6 months of release seems pretty great. games take time to develop, which is why the last few years of the wiiu had almost no releases (they had given up and moved to the switch development). also, it’s just a bad marketing tactic to blow your load and announce every game you have right away because then you don’t have any exciting news for the next year.

Honestly not surprised. I’m the only person I know who has a Switch 2. And some of my good friends have been on board day one with every previous Nintendo console.
This is the comment I was looking for.
The Wii U’s last year or 2 were abysmal. We got no announcements, and we were clinging onto the Zelda trailer (breath of the wild) because it was pretty much all we had, aside from a few b tier games. The switch was handed so many games on a silver platter. The Switch 2 wasn’t as lucky, but no one really expected it to be either. At least not anyone with any sense.

You never mention that it this is only for physical copies and wait till the end to say digital isn’t counted when you know the vast majority of switch 2 sales are of the mkw bundle. I feel you just saw the polygons misinformation and decided to copy their hw. I used to like this site for accurate reporting. I think I’ll stick with less click bait sites for a bit. It’s understandable, Mario Kart 8 is like the definitive racer up to yet. Yeah World is cool, but 8 is like the household name even gamers don’t even play, like the families that call every game system “a Nintendo” play this game. I imagine it’ll be high in the charts even years into the Switch 2s lifecycle, it’s timeless.
They seem surprised about this. Mario Kart 7 sales was much better then Mario Kart Wii. I knew Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was outselling World.
This isn’t quite accurate. The Mario Kart World bundle for the Nintendo Switch 2 is very clearly not being included in the Top 10 Nintendo Software ranking. We have sales data from the same report showcasing the Switch 2’s two-million mark in the U.S. territory, as well as its significant outpacing of the Switch 1 console during the same launch window.
I suspect y’all know that, too.

MKW is the same old same old, why didn’t they do a Diddy Kong Racing, or something new like adding co-op story mode?
They play it safe and boring, even the Sonic racers are doing it.. not that there’s anything wrong with it, it’s just lacking major depth.
