Nintendo says it has no intention of blocking legal third-party Switch 2 docks

Nintendo has commented on the uproar which emerged on social media after some third party Nintendo Switch 2 docks failed to work properly after the recent firmware update, leading some to speculate that the Kyoto-based company was purposely bricking legal third party docks. Nintendo has said in a statement that this isn’t the case and that it does’t have any “intention to hinder or invalidate legal third-party dock compatibility.” If you have been affected by this issue then you will unfortunately have to wait for your dock manufacturer to release a firmware update to resolve the issue.

“Nintendo Switch 2 outputs audiovisuals once it detects that it is docked into a Nintendo Switch 2 Dock. Nintendo Switch does the same, outputting audiovisuals once it detects that it is docked into a Nintendo Switch Dock. Nintendo does not have any intention to hinder or invalidate legal third-party dock compatibility.”

  1. That’s at least good to know though I don’t know why people think that was the case just because Nintendo has been doing questionable things.

    1. People get on the Nintendo hate bandwagon all too much lol. The only unquestionable thing they’ve done is ruin game sharing for families despite being a family friendly company, and yet that highly anti-consumer change has gone under the radar for some reason while imbeciles cry about useless things like a 3rd party dock no intelligent person would ever buy.

      1. There’s a feature on Switch and Switch 2 that allows game sharing and you can loan out your digital games to people on your family plan to their Switch systems AND lets them keep the full download on their system even after the 2wks is up. So how exactly are they ruining game sharing when they’re allowing people to share their digital games?

    1. Probably ones that don’t steal personal data or do other illicit things like mining or even cause harm to the console.

  2. So was it a Twitter post or some random interview where this information came from? It always seems like this radio silent ivory company know exactly what’s going on and when to comment on drama.
