New sales data provided by The Game Business has revealed that Sony’s PlayStation 5 console is narrowly beating Nintendo Switch 2 sales in the largest video game market in Europe, the United Kingdom. The fact that the console has been heavily discounted during the Black Friday sales has helped the system pull away from sales of the Nintendo Switch 2. The PlayStation 5 remains the best-selling console this year in the UK.

Switch 2 has spent this year going through a honeymoon period with many of the dedicated fans upgrading. However, where are the killer games that are going to encourage the casuals to upgrade? I don’t think they are there yet, and 2026 could get ugly for Nintendo if they’re not careful.
I thought kirby air riders was the killer app everyone (sakurai fanboys) are claiming to be.
Mario Kart World was meant to be a killer game, but ended up disappointing. Mario Kart peaked On Switch 1.
DK Bananza And Kirby Air Riders were well worth it.
MK on Switch 1 was a Wii U port. Let’s not forget that fact
Uhh Switch 2 didn’t go on sale until June. PS5 has 2x as long to sell
So if we go off of monthly sales, Switch 2 is doing about 2x the sales as PS5 even with discounted hardware.
