It seemed inevitable that Nintendo would raise the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 as Sony and Microsoft have both done the same due to the component shortages and changing markets. However, the company has apologised to customers and other stakeholders for doing this. Thankfully, the price increase isn’t too big, but it is still a blow that the price had to be increased while the console is gaining significant traction.

I don’t remember either Sony or Xbox apologizing at all lol. Especially not Sony.

Tariffs are not the reason here. Tariffs have been put on hold since the Supreme Court ruled against them. This is just greed. Just take the hit for the first few years and then you make a profit later down the road.

Videogames are business first. They’re products to be sold and make money. Funny that most people seem to forget that little detail. “Taking the hit for the first few years” could very well mean the death of a company due to how expensive gaming became nowadays. What you’re saying is unreasonable.
Nintendo is greedy, but with how every price is rising, I can’t just say that this was pure greed. I mean on Wednesday shareholders kept telling Nintendo to raise the prices because of this trade situation. It’s a bad situation for every company, and I hope the best for each company dealing tariffs and trading problems right now.

It’s greed alright, greed from AI corpos eating up a bunch of RAM and drives to feed their dumb AI centers and it’s not just them, these companies that make RAM and drives focusing on corpos buying up RAM and drives.
The tariffs caused dozens of tech manufactures to expensively pick up and move their factories to different countries. This is 100% about tariffs, don’t be silly. We are in the process of a complete global economic restructure.
How about the millions of Switch owners that had to buy new Joycons due to drift.

I’m not a hater; I’m a long-term customer. I’ve poured thousands of pounds into this company since the NES era. I hold them to a higher standard precisely because I’ve supported them for decades!
An apology isn’t going to bring down the price. They could survive selling the switch at the same price, they have almost unlimited money reserves. Why don’t they apologize by selling their remastered games like Mario Galaxy for 20$? Just trying to save face. Stop defending a company

I really don’t understand why on earth is the trillion dollar company the only one gets to apologize while Sony and Microsoft did not for their ram stortages for their systems. Price isnt problem. But i never buy Basic model. No after switch 1 drift problems. I must buy few joycons sets and i think oled version joycons survive longest. Then i wait until nintendo release switch 2 oled and i hope joycons survive normal playing..
You’re going to pay obviously over $500 for a rumoured Switch 2 oled.. i think the best deal is to buy a $450 Switch 2 before that goes up.
