Nintendo has asked a judge to dismiss the class action lawsuit which the Kyoto-based company is accused of “potential unjust enrichment” by hiking up the price of Nintendo Switch 2 controllers and the original Nintendo Switch last year saying that customers “received exactly what they bargained and paid for.” Back in February, the U.S. Supreme Court said that the sweeping tariffs were illegal. Nintendo’s lawyers described the tariffs as both “sweeping” and “constantly changing” and that the tariff refunds will not be passed on to consumers.

How unsurprising. They already make profit from each console sold even when discounted, so it’s not like they’re going to do anything that benefits the customer much anyway.

Thanks a lot Nintendo. Way to really treat your customers that keep your company in business and going for so long. This is just pure greed. This is no different than when they release a game with no demo and when it does not meet expectations, they make the purchase permanent. Even Steam will refund your purchase within so may days if the game does not hit you right and you do not like it.
It doesn’t mean we will get a refund, all they say is that it’s not illegal to not give refunds. I am just hoping Nintendo will just give some money back, it would be a spit in the face to Sony with how they have been delisting some titles and not refunding their customers .

These refunds, they don’t come out of thin air. They are from taxpayers dollars, right? So companies raise prices because of tarrifs, we pay more, and then the corporations get a refund from taxpayers. Great system. One of the biggest transfers of wealth in US history. Way past time for a revolt.

Im not surprised assuming this is US. I am also not even sure if this this argument is one of those obvious ones as im not sure how a law require a company to issue refunds due to this.

Not excusing Nintendo here, but I’m honestly not surprised because to be honest we should not have had these sweeping tariffs in the first place. If you want to blame someone, blame all the fucking American so-called Gamers who wanted to be anti-woke and voted in the terrible Cheeto that then made everything way too goddamn expensive and is why we don’t have nice things or human rights anymore.

I’m glad the Supreme Court admitted that the sweeping tariffs were in fact illegal. Nintendo knew from the beginning that there were in effected by the tariffs even so Doug Bowser said himself that they are not a year ago.
