Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. today released a new producer video for DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, offering an in-depth look at the upcoming Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC and confirming its launch on July 30, 2026, for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Launching alongside the downloadable content, a free update will introduce new battle mechanics available to all players. DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is available now on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch.
In the video, producer Jun Furutani provides an overview of the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC, highlighting its new solo mode, Limit Breaker Journey, along with 33 new playable characters spanning DRAGON BALL, DRAGON BALL Z, DRAGON BALL SUPER, and DRAGON BALL GT. The downloadable content also expands the game with four new Episode Battles, new Extra Battles, and four all-new stages.
The DLC’s new solo mode, Limit Breaker Journey, lets players take a favorite character and develop them into a fighter suited to their own playstyle. Players will be able to choose destinations across a map, taking on battles and events that strengthen their character with each run. A stamina system adds an element of risk and reward, as movement consumes stamina and lowers a character’s starting health in battle. Opponent strength is represented by “SP,” with tougher enemies granting more EXP, and special events allowing players to meet specific characters, equip stat-boosting Battle Art, and train for additional EXP. As players increase their SP, they earn points to allocate across six parameters, with characters strengthened in Limit Breaker Journey carrying their enhanced stats into Player Matches and Offline Battles.
Launching alongside the Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC, the free update introduces two new battle mechanics first revealed in the announcement trailer. “Sparking! Boost” consumes a larger amount of Skill Stock to sharply raise attack power while in Sparking! mode for one decisive offensive burst, at the cost of temporarily reduced stats once the effect ends. “Chain Blast” lets players follow up after sending an opponent flying by switching in a reserve ally and continuing the assault with a Blast for massive damage. The free update also adds three new variations of existing stages, in addition to the four all-new stages included in the DLC.

That’s impressive. I mean smash bros and street fighter dlc has like 4 to 6 new characters, but this has over 30? I am not a dragon ball guy, but this game looks like a true achievement in fighting games.
I mean to be fair to those types of games, unlike 3D arena fighters. They not only usually have to build everything from scratch in terms of attacks, cinematic, effects, etc, they have to test and maintain a somewhat balanced system unlike Sparking.
Sparking is balanced in the exact way it’s supposed to be. If you understand the basics a krillin can no dif a mui Goku. But at the same time because it’s dragon ball and certain characters are really powerful. In a fight between 2 noobs with the same characters the mui Goku would probably win.
Not because the game isn’t balance, but because the game is balanced in a way that it would make sense in the dragon ball universe. Where mui Goku is going to be one of the strongest characters. Street fighter doesn’t have characters that scale between city lvl-universal lvls of power.
Everyone in street fight is quite literally street/city block lvl or weaker. Hence the balance is there and you won’t have 1 character that solos the whole roster even with no skill. With dragon ball games you have to take into account all those varying power levels and actually put a substantial/somewhat substantial difference to actually make those characters seem how they are in universe.
I loved Dragon Ball on the Wii though I was never able to get them with traditional controllers.
I’m I misreading this, the DLC comes to every other console but the switch, and the update goes to all consoles.
The dlc will come to the switch 1 and switch 2 at a later time since the development for those versions are behind. I think the switch versions of the dlc should come out sometime in the next 2 months
