Nintendo has gracefully thanked fans for celebrating Mario’s iconic 40th anniversary with a new message on the official website. Mario’s actual anniversary was on 13th September, 2025 but celebrations happened all year long and ran into 2026. Here’s what the Kyoto-based company said via machine translation.
“Thank you for joining us in celebrating Mario’s 40th anniversary throughout the past year, with everything from games and exhibitions at the Nintendo Museum to special games featuring all 12 professional baseball teams, as well as the theatrical release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
We hope you’ll continue to support Mario!”
Thanks to SonicGalaxy27 for sending in the news tip!
Thank you for joining us in celebrating Mario’s 40th anniversary throughout the past year, with everything except showing the next mainline Mario game for switch 2
Nintendo games I much rather play, with no 3D Mario there isnt much to say.
3D Mario games are really fun, how long should we wait for the next Plumber and his side kick who takes down ghost withith a gun?
Just give up already. It’s been years of this. Just stop.
(note: the 40th anniversary mentioned in this article was about the 40th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. game series (not the character Mario mentioned here))
