IO Interactive has announced that 007 First Light on Nintendo Switch 2 is delayed to March 2027. This is probably for the best after the recent showing as it will give the team more time to add some glitz and polish. However, this is a long delay especially since the game was delayed on the Nintendo Switch 2 to begin with. Here’s the message the company posted on X:
“Today we would like to provide an update on the Nintendo Switch 2 release of 007 First Light.
We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.
We were thrilled by the positive feedback on 007 First Light at gamescom, and it’s a great sign of the progress being made across the whole game as we head toward launch. The same demo will be playable at Tokyo Game Show this week, so please join us there if you would like a hands-on experience.

Disappointed that they’re struggling so much to get a good version out. Whilst I’d obviously prefer a quality game so I’m grateful they are putting the work in, I don’t know quite why they are having such a hard time. Perhaps they need to consult with Capcom! I have been looking forward to the game since it was announced as I’m a huge Bond fan in general but my enthusiasm is waning having to wait nearly a year after other consoles got it. It better be very good by the time it comes out
Why do Gearbox games never come out on switch 2? Borderlands 4 has been silent for almost a year, and this is being delayed a year after when it was supposed to originally launch.
I don’t blame them, this goldeneye game required graphic cards that didn’t even exist, but they eventually fixed that.
