Famitsu has published an extensive interview with Stellar Blade’s director Kim Hyung-tae and PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba. During the interview it is clear just how much the Bayonetta franchise means to Kim Hyung-tae and Mr. Inaba is obviously touched that it means so much to him. The interview comes as Bayonetta will be coming to Stellar Blade which launches on the Nintendo Switch 2 in November. Here’s what was said via machine translation:
Could you tell us about your impressions of each other’s works? In particular, about Bayonetta and Stellar Blade, which you’re collaborating on this time.
Kim: First of all, I want to express my gratitude. Thank you for the opportunity to collaborate. Bayonetta is an important work that is indispensable to my life. As a gamer, it is one of my top three games, and I have always thought about how I could do something with it.
For this collaboration, I did my best so that we could deliver something we can be proud of. I am a lifelong fan, so I am looking forward to the next installment as well.
Inaba: Thank you. That last question is a little difficult to answer (laughs).
Specifically, what aspects of Bayonetta do you respect?
Kim: There’s so much to say, I could go on forever. From the gimmicks like “Witch Time” to the tactical feel that truly deserves to be called climactic action, the way the environment changes seamlessly from phase to phase is incredible. It’s not just a change in action patterns; the situation itself evolves, and the way these changes connect is fantastic. I was also impressed by sequences that far exceeded my expectations, such as the scene where you grow to gigantic size and fight in the middle of a city. I felt it was a vibrant, lifelike game that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.
The characters are undeniably charming, and I still can’t forget the camera walk from the first game. It offers experiences that movies can’t capture, and I believe it has left a significant mark on the history of action games.
Inaba: It’s incredibly touching to hear you say that again. When you summarize what you like about the product and hand it to me, it brings back all the memories of the muddy water and rough paths we traversed during development.
Some parts went as planned, but there were also twists and turns that led to some good results, so it makes us happy as a manufacturer to know that you love all aspects of the product, including those twists and turns, and it makes us feel rewarded. We really felt that you love it.
Kim: This game is like a huge gift in my life, so I hope it continues for a long time. I hope they’ll make it up to Bayonetta 10 (laughs)!
Inaba: I’d like to do my best (laughs).
Thanks to Greatsong1 and SonicGalaxy27 for sending in the news tip

I love the Bayonetta game and I’m considering buying Stellar Blade because it’s a complete game.
Get it on PC.
It’s honestly pretty cool seeing how much Bayonetta means to Kim Hyung-tae. You can tell this isn’t just a normal crossover for him, especially with him calling it one of his top three games and talking about specific details like Witch Time, the evolving environments, and the camera work. That kind of genuine appreciation makes the collaboration feel much more meaningful. I’m curious to see how Bayonetta fits into Stellar Blade and whether the crossover feels like more than just fan service. After playing it, maybe a casino hellspin-casino.org night would be a nice change of pace.
