Nintendo has a vast array of wonderful IPs under its belt and while the company strives to offer new gameplay experiences, Nate Bihldorff, Nintendo’s SVP of product development and publishing, has said that “new games and remakes both have a place in the Nintendo stable, of equal importance to be honest.” Classic Nintendo remakes are a slightly more cost effective way to drum up sales along with fresh new titles. Here’s what he said:
“I often have the best time anticipating which games are going to send the fandom into as big of a fervor as possible, and certainly the first time we heard about Ocarina of Time, we expected that to be the case,”
“I do think that new games and remakes both have a place in the Nintendo stable, of equal importance to be honest. There are fans of every single IP that we have out there. Of course, having new games in those series is wonderful, and I look forward to them as much as anyone else does, but there’s also a deep satisfaction in revisiting games that were very, very special, like Ocarina of Time… But it’s also important to think about how many people had never played the original, and for them, the remake of Ocarina of Time is going to be an absolutely brand-new, 2026 experience, and one that I just cannot wait for them to get their hands on.”

It’s official, Donkey Kong Jr will be getting a remake.
Whoops, my sources look to be outdated. Donkey Kong Jr on the game and watch will be getting an 4K remake.
I hope Smash isn’t one of those remakes.
I highly doubt we will get a remake of F-Zero or at least of GX/AX. Either way I’m hoping they do the same thing as with OoT, keeping the looks of the past while updating to modern graphicss.
When u cant make original games anymore this makes sense.
Its a bold strategy that seems to be paying off for them however.
All i care about is if this will increase the stock value.
Read the article, it explains why the remakes are done and guaranteeing new games.
“When u cant make original games anymore this makes sense.”
Mario Kart World, DK Bananza, Fortune’s Weave, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Metroid Ravenous, Kirby and the World Beyond, Pokémon Winds and Waves next year. But yeah, just because they remade Star Fox and OoT, they can’t make original games anymore.
I swear, some people around here…
I was hoping they can do F-Zero X remake this time or better yet Pokemon Stadium.
I think true remakes like OoT make perfect sense from several perspectives. Being able to build game assets that can be utilized in the next title, being able to keep large swaths of devs busy with something while the more advanced devs are prototyping game elements for the next sequel, being able to show young devs how and why an older game was made in a certain way, expose older titles to younger fans, etc. Games aren’t movies. As long as there is real craftsmanship that goes into the remakes, it makes a lot sense why you would remake older stuff along side new stuff.
I have been loving the Oot remake so far, it’s faithful but still different, new, and modernized. I hope we get more remakes like this, maybe for Smaller IP’s like golden sun.
Hej forumowicze. Efekty wizualne były świetne, mnożnik w rundzie bonusowej mile mnie zaskoczył, a satysfakcja z udanego wieczoru była w stu procentach zasłużona. Warto było zaufać pozytywnym opiniom użytkowników w sieci.
“Of equal importance, to be honest.”
Oh, that doesn’t bode well. New games should the top priority. If I’m being charitable, I’ll agree that game preservation is extremely important these days, so if “remake” also includes ports and remasters then I might let it slide.
I don’t think the multi-billion dollar corporation really cares if you personally “let it slide” or not lmao.
Seems very likely we’ll get Majora’s Mask – hopefully within a couple years after Ocarina of Time, just like it was with the N64 release. Maybe even sooner?
I would love to see a Wave Race remake as well.
If there is one game I want a remake from in Nintendo’s catalog, it is Kid Icarus Uprising
