Nintendo has redesigned the Club Nintendo website allowing gamers to use their Club Nintendo coins to pay for downloadable games for Wii or Nintendo 3DS. The site currently appears to be down for maintenance but one reader managed to snap the above screenshot. Which games will you be exchanging for coins?

Nothing, as the European Nintendo still is still years behind. Our prizes are horrible and hardly get updated, and we are still stuck on star points.

Actually I think you Europeans get better prizes. You got the Kid Icarus 3D prize and the chance to win a limited edition 3DS if you purchased two games.

Hahahahahahahaha no. Those are play coins. We’re talking about coins you get when you become a Club Nintendo member and register first (soon to be third in USA) party titles like Ocarina of Time 3d, Starfox 3D, and etc., etc., etc.

Using his algorithm? I’ll have to crunch some numbers but preliminary observation indicates that the net star amount after conversion is somewhere between 2 and 16, arbitrary decimal approximation and variable international rates excluded.

Nice move. This encourages people to buy Nintendo retail games. By buying the downloadable games, Nintendo doesn’t have to spend money on physical items and shipping of those items. They just give you a download code and you get the game. That’s a smart move from them.
THIS IS SWEEEEEEET! Good thing I’ve been saving up on coins. Those downloadable games will keep me busy while I’m forced to wait for christmas to get mk7 =)

Looks like one of the Zelda posters is the same design as one offered at the 25th anniversary concerts. The other two appear new. I’d be annoyed if I paid the price (it was 20 quid here in the UK) for that poster and now I could get it for a lot less via coins heh. Looks like I have something to spend 400 coins on finally. Before you mention, I do have a US Club Nintendo account… handy having an American girlfriend heh.

Probably should have confirmed this with Nintendo first. No games on club Nintendo US except the old tired ones. Oh well, I really did have my hopes up on this…
I saw it reported elsewhere. Perhaps it’s not ready to launch? If they are offering Wii VC games and Wiiware games, I system update might be in order for the Wii Shop channel. It could have been a slip up, so they had to take down the site for maintenance.
It was accidently leaked early, Nintendo is trying to work out the kinks so that the website will work properly when they decide to release it. Expect to hear/see something before at least the 22nd
