Metal Gear Solid Gets A Firm Release Date For Nintendo 3DS, Plus Official Box Art

Konami has finally announced the official release date for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on the Nintendo 3DS. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will be arriving in Europe on March 8th. The game was initially scheduled to be released at the Nintendo 3DS launch but has received multiple delays. It’s great to finally have a firm release date for the game.

    1. I think its suppose to be a complete new version of the game. The a remake but bur really remade. I could be completely wrong though, I have this feeling I’m thinking of another game.

      1. Frankenstick? Lemme guess, the Circle Pad Pro, right?
Anyhow, I never played a single game in the MGS series, so I tried the demo from the eShop. I definitely am impressed by this game, and especially like how it works with the CPP, or the “Frankenstick,” as you guys call it. xD

  2. Konami messed it up by no porting the GameCube exclusive “MGS The Twin Snakes” over MGS that either by the same price or $10 more you could get the HD collection with this and 2 more games. The only people who would justify this game will be die hard Nintendo fanboys.

    1. Exactly what I’ve been saying. Especially with the collection coming out on vita. Game should be 20$ (and that’s being generous) if not, dont waste the money on this, get the HD collection and experience the series.

      -MGS3 platinum holder.

      Great game, dumb idea.

      1. Yeah, I think I would rather get the 360 version. I just wish I didn’t have to get a PS3, something I can’t afford at the moment, to get MGS 4.

        1. Why would you want want it in the first place? That game was blasphemy to the rest of the series. If the new games they make are like 4 the series is dead to me. But, lets face it they want money and what makes money is apparently Gears style gameplay rip offs. Kojima you let your game series become a $2 whore I hope you are proud of yourself.

    2. Or somebody that just loves the series… Seriously stop bitching about the prices put on games. You can’t change it by bitching so either 1 don’t buy the game and shut up, or 2 pull the dick out of your ass, get a job, and buy the game. It really is that simple.

    1. ^I don’t get how these people think. I mean, why would you wanna play private games with people you don’t even know? I only send my codes to people I know when-

      …wait I get it now.

    1. same poster, any idea when multiplayer was first shown for mgs peace walker before it was release? my thinking is maybe it will be announced along that same time frame. 1-2 months in advance of the release to get more hype behind the game.

    2. “Series producer Hideo Kojima stated at the time that if a Metal Gear game for the 3DS was actually made they would consider some elements from the PlayStation Portable title Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, including the game’s cooperative gameplay system.”

      Seems likely.

      1. i think i came across that same statement on neogaf forum also, but with only one place saying anything about multiplayer its hard to believe its going to be in the game.
multiplayer is a deal breaker for me when it comes to getting the game on day one for just waiting for a second hand copy.
i am hoping it was the multiplayer part of the game that made them delay it for so long.

        1. I agree, multiplayer really is essential and would probably make the game sell a lot more.

(Got the quote from wikipedia btw, not that that change anything though lol)

  3. Why do they always seem to make BBFC ratings much bigger when they rate games these days? They just look massively ugly and it makes me wish that PEGI could do it all of the time instead. In fact, I’m not even sure WHY the BBFC need to do it anymore since PEGI seem perfectly suited to the job and their ratings fit better and give a much clearer idea of what ages games are suitable for. I mean BBFC has U, PG, 12A (cinema only, I believe), 12, 15, 18 and R (for P0RN). Granted BBFC’s higher ratings are practically the same as PEGI’s, but “PG” is very unclear and the 3, 7 and 12 ratings from the latter make much more sense. “Parental Guidance” doesn’t mean a lot these days and a clear age rating would be better.

That also raises the question: why is this game is BBFC rated at all? I can understand, say, Karaoke Revolution Glee because it features footage from a TV show, but Metal Gear Solid is purely in-game content which is no better or worse than, say, Madworld or Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

tl;dr British rating boards, why you so silly?

    1. Usually, it is because PEGI rate a game an 18, but the bbfc is less strict and rates it a 15. Since the bbfc is law in Britain, and PEGI is just strict guidelines, companies use the bbfc to get more people to buy their games.

For example, No More Heroes is an 18 in the rest of Europe for PEGI, but a 15 in the UK for PEGI. Same goes for Mercenaries and RE4.

Lower age rating = higher target audience.

      1. Obviously each rating board applied different criteria so perhaps what the BBFC considers a 15 isn’t want PEGI does and perhaps they both have good reasons for rating games the way they do.

I’m curious if there are any games that are the reverse i.e. rated higher in the UK and lower in the rest of Europe, just to compare for the sake of balance. I’m not saying you’d lie, just wondering if you’ve just mentioned a few games that fit your argument.

Also, I wouldn’t have as much of an issue with BBFC ratings if they weren’t blow-up horribly in this way. Why can’t they keep them normal film size at least?
