Kid Icarus director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed via Twitter that Kid Icarus: Uprising has finally gone gold. Sakurai thanked all those that were involved in the game’s development and also joked that maybe he’d finally be able to rest up on Saturday and Sunday. Now he’s done with Kid Icarus lets hope that work begins on Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS.

Thats what I was wondering. I thought “going Gold” meant the game like got players choice of the year..or something like platinum hits.

Gold is the term used to describe the stage in a game’s development when everything is thoroughly tested and all members of the team have agreed that every aspect of the game is in its final version and can not be changed or improved upon any further.
Essentially, it means the game is ready to be released.

In the US going “gold” means you sold 1/2 a million, dunno about elsewhere

Nice to know Kid Icarus Uprising is done, here’s hoping for a Smash Bros 4 trailer at the next E3. Heck, maybe even a Smash Bros Dojo equivalent for Smash Bros 4?
