Japan asks US to stop using Mario, Pokemon and others in social media posts

IGN is reporting that the Japanese Ministry has been calling on the Trump administration to stop using IPs like Naruto, Pokemon and Mario in its meme themed social media posts. The Japanese Ministry is not happy with the IPs being used and say that their usage could ultimately damage the popular brands. Simply put they are not pleased that these IPs are being used to promote certain agendas. The Japanese Ministry has issued warnings twice in June alone through the US Embassy in Japan.

  1. Mario has been everywhere, New York, the mushroom kingdom, space, and now a political ad campaign. What’s next, is he going to appear in a adult magazine?

  2. Figures. I don’t wanna hear one more negative thing about Trump. So if anyone thinks I’m going to choose between Trump or Nintendo, think again.
