Capcom Says It’s Unrealistic If Monster Hunter Games Were Bound To Sony Platforms

Capcom’s Monster Hunter series started out on a Sony console – the PlayStation 2. The publisher expanded to Nintendo platforms with the third console installment in the franchise, Monster Hunter Tri for Wii, because it’s apparently unrealistic to keep the series forever bound to one company’s platforms.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will launch 2013 for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Monster Hunter 4 is also scheduled to release 2013, in Japan, and is a Nintendo 3DS exclusive.

“The series did start out on Sony platforms, but it’s just realistic to think that it can’t continue on one platform forever. With Monster Hunter 4, it actually just came down to timing – we were developing a new Monster Hunter and the 3DS hardware had just come out, so we figured it was probably the best platform for us to develop it on. You have two screens, with action on top and menus on the bottom, and there’s the 3D view as well. It just made sense to put it onto 3DS.”

    1. The Vita can GTFO. For once, Sony has a failed console besides the PSmove. I know C(r)apcom are assholes and trolls, but just like in this statement where they showed us the last bit of intelligence they had, they now realize that the Wii U and 3DS ARE and WILL be successful.

      1. PSP go was the start of sony losing the plot . I think capcom has more trust in Nintendo for the coming years , Sony is in so much trouble with the vita , it’s goin to have a hard time toppleing the dreamcast and gamecube in sales volume .

      2. Vita is a great handheld, It’s just sony doesn’t seem to care about, it, we all know great content is coming in like 2-3 months but some people wants games now and what is next after those 2-3 months, thats why I like nintendo they give their customers what they want right away

    1. Nintendomination? Uh???? What about Kingdom Hearts? Didn’t you hear about KH 1.5 HD exclusive to the PS3?

Or what about the GBA game KH Chain of Memories that was remade for the PS2? Now KH 1 and KH re: Chain of Memories will be remastered in HD for the PS3 in addition to a remaster of the cutscenes from KH 358/2 Days from the DS.

This is nothing like KH. KH has always been shared between Nintendo and Sony.

      KH 1: PS2
      KH 1 FM: PS2
      KH CoM: GBA
      KH 2: PS2
      KH 2 FM: PS2
      KH re: CoM: PS2
      KH 358/2 Days: DS
KH re; Coded: DS (remake of mobile phone game)
      KH BBS: PSP
      KH BBS FM: PSP
      KH 3D: 3DS
      KH 1.5 HD: PS3

5 Sony Releases (8 including the Final Mixes)
      4 Nintendo Releases

On the other hand, Monster hunter was a Sony exclusive for a good amount of time and then fairly recently made its way over to the Wii as well.

      MH – PS2
      MH Freedom – PSP
      MH G – PS2
      MH 2 – PS2
      MH Freedom 2 – PSP
      MH Freedom Unite – PSP

      MH Tri – Wii
      MH Portable 3rd – PSP
      MH Portable 3rd HD – PS3
      MH 3 Ultimate – Wii U, 3DS
      MH 4, 3DS

And forget the other spin-offs but they included 2 other PSP games, a 360/PC game, and an iOS game.

That said, there’s nothing wrong with IPs shared across different platforms.

      1. well, MH’s biggest selling point with the handhelds is primarily the local co-op play in japan, to make it multiplatform would be to split the user base up and reduce numbers. this is actually smart by them to stay with one system for awhile, then moving to another if there’s a chance they may be a better success on a different system and the fans will move with them, like they always have.

        1. Why are you always on this site, do you have some sick fetish to why you’re always on here a site pertaining to a product you clearly hate? You sir is a SICK FUCK!!!!

        2. You’re going to have to get smarter and use more big words, rather than set yourself up for a bashing like the last stupid post you left.

          1. Shokio nailed it once again. This video sums up how I feel about Aelous and all of his clones. Nintendo owns their mind and soul. Haunts their dreams. And we have the posts to prove it. How sad their life must be.

    1. Translation: we don’t want people to buy a vita to play our game, because you know it, vita doesn’t sell well and it never will, so just buy it for 3DS everyone have it anyway lol

      1. HAHAHAHAHA , i hope the trolls of tis website watch this , lol .

It’s considered a bit sad just to say positive comment’s about a console or a company you like , but hating on it 24/7 is just fucking out of order lol . Inanimate object , lol .

  1. too bad, this game could’ve possibly saved the vita in japan for a decent amount of time. but nope, MH4 is 3DS exclusive. looks like the vita is going to stay insignificant with no real signs of improvement
