Earlier this month, the Super Mario Bros. Movie had a special Los Angeles screening in celebration of its 20th Anniversary. But for the event organisers, the fun doesn’t just stop there. In fact, the movie – which is akin to Marmite – is now getting its very own comic sequel.
Written by Steven Applebaum and Ryan Hoss, and based on discussions by the original scriptwriter for the film, Parker Bennett, the comic picks up from where the film came to a grinding halt. Bennett, speaking in his foreword, says he was ‘hopelessly optimistic’ for a sequel based on a teaser at the end, but when that didn’t come to fruition, he simply moved on. Now, though, the webcomic promises something for the fans of the cult film, and the first sneak-peek can be viewed here. Let us know what you think of the comic in the comments below.
hmmmm I don’t know if “do want”
So Yoshi is a friggin Raptor??? Shyguys use guns??? Lord I am glad I never sat through this abomination! Cheers 2 whoever Can… -shivers-
Have you ever seen it? It is a decent movie.
Yoshi is a baby T. rex, actually. And the Shy Guys (or Snifits, rather) did essentially use guns in the games.
Uh……okay then. XD
This oughta prove interesting!
I’ve watched this movie over 10 times and i have to say it’s one of my all time favorites! Definitely deserves a comic sequel.
I’m sorry, but I’m practically obligated to ask… are you blind, deaf, and/or dumb? Because that’s the only way one would be able to sit through that…. film.
Well you must be retarded because you can’t detect sarcasm.
No sorry . Sarcasm is not detectable , even I didn’t see it
Sarcasm doesn’t work over the internet.
Glad you like the movie so much! We hope you enjoy the sequel just as well. :D
Why would anyone celebrate that movie.
Huh. Maybe it’s something Linkara would review in the future if it’s as bad as the movie.
Lmao! Are those shy guys? xD
At least it’s not a movie this time :P
…… Really…. REALLY… You know what, I betting that the girl in the middle is Princess Peach, and the dinosaurs are Yoshi.
Did you even watch the original movie?
center bald is wart and the hooded ones are shy guys(snifit to be precise)
My god.
Why.
The only good things about that movie was Daisy, Yoshi and the fact that the movie still better than the Xbox Done…
X-Bone, X-Gone, X-Done
It is the same, and no, Yoshi was not awesome, we want the cute dinosaur not that baby t-rex
to be honest, aside from the name rape, this movie is not half bad
it was bad because it was proclaimed as a direct adaptation of the game, but aside from that, is is acceptable
I like how the Snifit are portrayed
I still hate “Luigi’s” look, but lol what the hell
Never seen the movie but is it really that bad ??
The movie’s not that bad if you ignore the fact that it’s a Super Mario movie. (Just like N&B is good if you ignore the fact that it’s a Banjo-Kazooie game)
LOL super mario in “hc mature gamer” style lolololololol.
my god save us all
Oh god no. I thought this piece of shit was finished. Now some dumbass is reviving what shouldn’t be named…ever?! God help us. X( Please bury this crap again and make sure it stays there.
I wish they’d make a NEW Mario movie, but this time get everything accurate and true to the games. I don’t know why it hasn’t been done yet?
I actually quite enjoyed the movie and watched it several times. It’s not as bad as people say. It’s actually a pretty good movie. You just have to get past the fact that it’s labeled as a Super Mario Bros. movie. I may have to pick this comic up.
I don’t know why people hate this film. What makes it different to Mario is what makes the film good. In fact, it is a darker Mario world, the picture reminds a bit of Blade Runner. people should think of this as a version, just a version of Mario, not what Mario is supposed to be.
