Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has told investors and analysts that he is fed up with inaccurate reports spread by mainstream media outlets. Iwata says his words are often taken out of context to amplify animosity. He confesses that he has no way to control the flow of information spread throughout the internet. Here’s what he had to say.
“Some media reports have, without asking or referring to official announcements, without confirming and reporting as if announced — that is, taking some of my words out of context and rewriting them to amplify animosity and reporting as if I had said it. So when considering media influence and the content of reports and whether they’d be misread, it may be refuted. So when ignoring such a report would be a big minus, I may actively respond. I cannot control information flow on the Internet. Because there may always be some very unfortunate or regrettable information transmitted, refuting would only help to spread it. I take great care in deciding how to respond so as not to upset stock holders. Nintendo Direct is most-watched not on PC, but eShop. In that way there can be a direct channel to customers. By distributing info reliably, even if there are bad reports, not as big a problem.”

What exactly is he saying specifically got misconstrued by the media? Any public entity has false information circulating about them. It’s been that way forever. That’s how journalism (which is a business) works. This sounds more like a red-herring spin-job to take attention away from CONFIRMED problems Nintendo has right now which he has openly admitted to himself.
People aren’t upset of misunderstandings about Nintendo, but are upset and frustrated with his mistakes, his compounding them, and lack of learning from them.

The mainstream gaming media is bought and paid for by advertising agencies and companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Google. Nintendo doesn’t strike me as a company that would need to pay for articles/good reviews, etc… which probably makes them an even bigger target.
Take a look at GamesIndustry International, they post more doom and gloom for Ninty than anyone else, lots of stuff about how Nintendo should abandon hardware and just make phone games, etc… Even a recent article about how Ninty would be nuts getting into the smartphone market was just a ruse to say that Ninty should get into the iOS/Android market and abandon hardware.
Sites like Kotaku are clearly bought and paid for, as are other like Gizmodo, who, IIRC, ran THIRTEEN STRAIGHT PAGES of iPhone coverage back in 2007 when the first one launched. So obviously paid for by Apple, as all an iPhone is, is a Palm Pilot with phone functionality and it’s own store, which already existed beforehand. (HP’s first smartphone came out in 2006, you never heard about till right now though).
Any website that supports Kinect in any way is bought and paid for by Msoft, as Kinect is the most retarded thing in gaming history, and also a massive privacy concern. Sites like Eurogamer, who also regularly post gloom about Ninty, are one of those. Any site that gave Star Wars Kinect anything over a 1/10 is bought and paid for! lol.
The only gaming news site I know of that isn’t complete nonsense with bought and paid for “adver-articles” is Rockpapershotgun.com. They only cover PC games, but they are the only honest ones out there.
Oh, more proof of this bought and paid for stuff? Joystiq run an almost endless stream of articles about Mew-Genics, the idiotic new game from Meat Boy’s creator. Clearly they had a bunch of money thrown at them to do that, as that silly game is barely worth a mention, IMO.

I think the issue lies with the fact that most people now especially gamers are pretty clued up on specs, hardware etc Nintendo still have not given the specs of the WiiU yet but while Iwata/Nintendo say that the spec doesn’t matter, well yes it does, because all this does is make people question them & guestimate, it also looks like they have something to hide, if the WiiU can come close to the PS4 & X1 graphically then put together a tech demo that runs on a high-end PC & also on the WiiU.
Nintendo’s problem is that they are to inward looking, ok the first party games mostly look & play well but it’s ok them saying ‘we can get the best out of the system’ but what about everyone else & thats the problem, they are shooting themselves in the foot, if the PS4 & X1 didn’t need 7GB & 5GB RAM for just gaming why would they have it, can Nintendo get a PS4/X1 game running on the WiiU with it’s 1GB of gaming RAM, because if they can lets see it, they give everyone the ammunition & then moan when it gets fired back at them.
