BBC iPlayer is still coming to the Wii U, according to the BBC’s senior product manager Peter Lasko. The on-demand TV app was originally planned to come to the Wii U at launch – or so we were led to believe from advertisements – but has suffered from a chronic delay, quite similar to Nintendo’s TVii for Europe.
As spotted by Nintendo Insider on a BBC blog, BBC iPlayer will come to the home console at some point “in the future”, though no other details, including dates, were specified. Lasko responded to comments on the blog concerning the app’s arrival and said the following:
“We follow a clear process so that we can get iPlayer onto devices in a scalable and maintainable way. We worked with Sony in this way for the PlayStation 4. We are working to bring BBC iPlayer to both Xbox One and Nintendo Wii U in the future, but we have no further details to share at this time. We have no immediate plans to bring BBC iPlayer to Apple TV or the PS Vita.”

this could be better than TVii
What this program
is a tv broadcast app
this is to broadcast BBC shows, similar to HULU but fixed for BBC
Oh okay. I live in Germany and never heard of it.
That’s because its british television…
Is it like netflixs???
kinda, but only with BBC shows
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_iPlayer
BBC is the main TV broadcaster in the UK, the iPlayer is used to watch missed shows etc. It is free for any UK residents
It’s not free…we have to pay an annual fee to the bbc whether we want to watch their shows or not
That’s like NRK (Norwegian something something) here! “Oh, buying a TV? Well, you’ll have to pay!”
To my whole crew BBC!!!
Awesome! Hopefully ABC Iplayer comes to us Australians.
Or at least ABC iView
I posted this on Reddit almost a month ago. http://www.reddit.com/r/wiiu/comments/1tqgjf/bbc_working_to_bring_iplayer_to_wii_u_uk/
How will it be for europeans outside of UK? Really want to use it for Sherlock and Doctor Who!
It won’t be outside the UK. Similarly to how Netflix isn’t in Australia.
Australians don’t get Netflix?! O.O I feel sorry for them.
Yep, we don’t. :/ I’ve been waiting as it says ‘available in your location soon’ and has said that for about 5 years.
But them shows are on netflix! :P
Watched all of Sherlock on normal TV, but I don’t think Doctor Who is on Norwegian Netflix… Might as well just buy it, though. If it’s anything close to Sherlock, it is worth it!
Or just get this and access the american netflix https://mediahint.com
Thanks!
I would use it to watch Top Gear and QI :P
Haven’t heard about QI before, but Top Gear’s pretty cool!

Never heard of it. I don’t know what “BBC” is.
United Kingdoms main media/radio/tv broadcaster.
Maybe a bit like CBS/Fox in america except bigger. This is their On demand service app allowing one to rewatch the past few weeks programming.
The BBC make Doctor Who.
Oh, I don’t watch Doctor Who lol! I watch Fox though.
A channel from the UK.
I see
im laughing at these awful explanations of BBC lolol
And here was me thinking that X1 was the “One entertainment system” Looks like Wii U is getting some love. I would so use this!
I use Netflix because the gamepad, but aside that, i think the WiiU has enough with that
ofc, N is trying to sell the product, and I support it as long as they dont whore the system
I hope that wwe network comes out on wii u
Bit late isn’t it ?
