SEGA Divides Index Corporation Into Two Companies, Will Enhance Business Growth

SEGA has announced that it will split Index Corporation – a subsidiary of SEGA – into two companies: Atlus and Index. Last September, Sega Sammy acquired Atlus parent company Index Corporation in a move to secure the company’s financial outlook. Now, a shift in business structure is required to strengthen its divisions and support new developments.

Atlus will maintain its game development with 121 employees, while Index Corporation will focus solely on advertisement and marketing, as well as content distribution, employing a total of 166 individuals. Changes within the managerial are also afoot with Yukio Sugino – current SEGA managing director – acting as the head for Atlus. Such divisions will be completed by April 1.

      1. What’s with the fire Iwata bullshit? Its getting annoying. Seriously, if the guy made the 3DS and Wii a success, why fire him? Stop giving poor reasons for him to be fired, only reasonable acceptation is a scandal or he’s REALLY bad at his job. Hey may not be doing that much of a good job right now, but his past achievements really do outshine them.

        1. Wii was LUCK. Period. It was old tech that was SUPPOSED to be released for the GameCube, but took too long to develop and perfect, so they wrapped it in a “new” system and called it a day. Wii was essentially a stopgap system that sold a bunch of units so we got stuck with it.
Im too lazy to go back and look up what story I wrote a novel on in the comments section pertaining to this. Basically, if the motion controls had been perfected, gamecube wouldve been a hit and we would have had HD last gen. This gen would be much more impressive in terms of improved graphics and I wouldve hoped that 3rd party wouldve been thought of. Essentially, motion controls messed everything up. Iwata got lucky with the Wii.
Iwata got lucky with 3DS too. No one really cares for the gimmick. I never use the 3D when I play with mine, and I rarely encounter anyone who uses it at all. Streetpass was brilliant. THAT was what sells the system, along with great Nintendo games of course, but expect Sony to rip that off on their next handheld and call it something stupid. Now Iwata wants to “leapfrog” to non-wearable tech and continue to chase the casuals instead of just focusing on the core and fixing online and the host of other problems.

          Iwata needs to go.

      2. Idiot. You don’t just fire the President all of a sudden. Without spending a lot of time finding a replacement and teaching him how the company is and such that would just kill Nintendo. And whats harsh but true is replacing him could get a guy who is even more out of touch with the western world.

        1. No. You fire a president after 3 consecutive years of operating loss, the draining of all 3rd party support, and the ruin of Nintendo’s reputation amongst the west. All Things that HE admitted
          himself.

That the part that makes your comment infinitely retarded. Iwata has already PUBLICLY conceded his failure. CEO’s have been fired for 25% of the failings he gets away with.

Is it a prerequisite around here for people to respond by ignoring what you actually said because they don’t have an intelligent answer for what you said?

I never mentioned anything about how long or short it takes to remove a CEO. I just said that any chance of Nintendo buying Sega will not happen as long as Iwata is president.

I don’t really know what is so hard to understand about that or how anything else can be extrapolated from it unless you are one of those ones who creams their shorts at everything Iwata says and does in an idolatrous viewpoint of the man.

I have no interest in hearing anything else you have to say. If you want to see a true idiot, look in the mirror.

  1. Hmmm…. don’t know what to make of this. It certainly SOUNDS like good news, but will it really benefit SEGA?

    1. and by “really benefit SEGA” I mean will anything change in SEGA’s video game quality? if not then it’s just the same old SEGA… :/

    2. Maybe this spin off is prep work for Nintendo to announce that they are buying/merging with Sega games? One can hope.
