Nintendo Donates Thousands Of Bananas To Food Bank

Nintendo of Canada has revealed the number of bananas frozen as part of its Banana Mania Contest. In total, 4,835 bananas were inside a frozen block of ice as part of the contest, which was part of an effort to promote Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze‘s February 21st launch. All the bananas were donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to more than 28,000 people weekly.

“Nintendo of Canada was pleased to share this experience with the thousands of Donkey Kong fans who celebrated this latest game launch with us,” said Nintendo of Canada vice president Ron Bertram. “We are just as bananas as our fans about Donkey Kong and look forward to swinging, swimming, leaping and barrel-blasting through Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!”

    1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

So to promote Metroid our empire should launch a space ship…

      Now that’s a real advertisement…

I have to agree a bit, High Command needs to research new techonology at once!

We cannot fall behind by much…

We should research a Tron like experience to counter the Sonyans…

      1. What for? That looks gimmicky as fuck. But then again when they unveil something from Sony its revolutionary. Unless is nintendo if it’s nintendo is kiddy and gimmicky. I hope it sells well though Sony is pretty bad almost gone. They cant really fuck up with that thing. If yhey do then what the ps4 “helped then” will be for nothing.

        1. Oh they’ll fuck up alright, because Sony is well known for lack of support for all their products except the ps4

          1. Is this why my vita and psp still get games to this date? Or that the PS2 just recently stop getting support? Or all those games announced for the PS3 coming out in the next year? That kind of lack of support?

If they fuck up it wont be because of support, itll be because Sony still thinks they can charge a premium for there brand.

      2. You should know that Sega and Nintendo are the first companies to introduce VR?,Sega VR,Nintendo’s Virtual Boy

        1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

I know, but now the Sonyans have created a more advanced one, we cannot sit still doing nothing…

Yes, and hopefully it’s advertised right at the moment they announce it…

We cannot have a third lack of supplies…

          1. Hey it was 1995 so for that time it was pretty advanced, and of course it wasn’t as good as people expected it to be

  2. not only donating bananas we can fight for this :)

    http://www.change.org/petitions/nintendo-adding-online-multiplayer-and-voice-chat-to-virtual-console-games

    Here’s why it’s important:

Have you ever imagined playing an old classic that you loved and wanted it to be online to show off your skills or even play with friends and family that live to far away to play the game with them. Imagine Super Mario World with online and voice chat, Mario kart with online and voice chat or even super smash bros! from N64 with online multiplayer and voice chat the list can go on and on this can be something that I know will be a hit! We together can make this happen if we show nintendo that we really want this! This would be amazing!

  4. Nintendo is a REAL company. Not like Sony. We help the poor and not promote violense like the Fagstation 4 and COD.

    1. Hmm, if Nintendo doesn’t promote violence, then how come they promote Pikmin, Smash, and Mario, which are violent?

Also, research before you post. Sony has donated many times in the past. Here’s one:

Oh, I stopped reading at “Fagstation 4”. Stop putting your beloved company on a pedestal and don’t act like they’re the only ones who do good.
