Browser Legend of Zelda Game Removed Due To Request By Nintendo

As quickly as word of the pixel-perfect 3D Legend of Zelda internet browser game spread, the game was taken down.

The duo that had worked on the project explained that Nintendo asked them to remove the site for copyright infringement. They have agreed to the removal, stating that “Nintendo has every right to protect their IP” and explained that they “knew this result could potentially happen”. Despite that, they have no complaints. They conclude by mentioning that they had fun working on the project and even “made some friends along the way”.

    1. This was WAY more faster than I expected from Nintendo, but at least the people who made the 3D remake weren’t complaining. That’s cool, so glad they understood what they were doing was wrong and there project was gonna get taken down sooner or later

          1. If they are following this site & if they read the comments, FIX FUCKING MIIVERSE BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS, CHANGE MIIVERSE’S RULES ABIT TO BE MORE ADULT FRIENDLY OR MAKE AN ADULT ORIENTED SECTION OF MIIVERSE THAT CAN’T BE ACCESSED UNLESS YOU ENTER THE BYPASS CODE FOR PARENTAL CONTROLS IF YOU CAN’T DO THE OTHER, & FIRE THE GOD DAMN ADMINS CUZ THEY FUCKING SUCK!!!

Seriously. Why fucking even have parental controls on the god damn system if you just going to make every god damn thing on the fucking console family friendly!?

          1. Emulators aren’t illegal so they can’t do shit. The wii U is just made up of basic as PC architecture, thus they have nothing on the emulator alone. Nor are the devs of it encouraging piracy, as with any other emu dev, though can be read between lines they made it for that in the first place.

        1. I agree with you, I had my suspicion when collette start doing reviews for games which were not yet released (xenoblade chronicles X). I am certain a Nintendo employee following my Nintendo news.

  1. Aww man, I meant to go and try it out before it got taken down. I would have loved to see what it was like since I played through the original game recently. I wish there was somewhere I could go to download and play this fan project.

  2. F***ing Nintendo. This is why the gaming community outside of us Nintendo fans hate them. A fandom is built around a community that is allowed to express themselves (within reason) about what they enjoy without the need to fear the organisation they support. By restricting tabs from doing this what do you gain Nintendo? A self assurance that you do indeed own your own IP? I NEVER rant but stuff like this is getting out of hand.

    1. Yeah, people should just be able to take a game someone else made, and just put it online for free!!

I mean, you do have a point. But in the end, this was a illegal copy of a game that they made, and put it online for the whole world to play for free.

It’s like remaking a music album 1:1 and giving it away for free… Or a movie, or whatever..

      1. I can see it from both sides…
But, Nintendo always attacks the smaller guys while there are still large amounts of products and sites that practically give out Nintendo games for free.

    2. I dunno, if I made a game and then someone made essentially the same game available for free, I would probably want it taken down too. I feel like most other companies would do the same thing.

The reason this only seems to happen to Nintendo games is that they’re some of the only games that are getting fan remakes in the first place lol

      1. You have a point but just because you have the right to be oppressive doesn’t mean you should. My previous post was a bit of an outburst of a culmination of things Nintendo have done which they CAN do and are legally entitled to i.e. Their youtube policy etc. But doesn’t necessarily mean they should.

What is undeniable is that they have successfully managed to alienate a lot of gamers during the last few years. Wouldn’t you agree that some of this would contribute to that?

        1. No, I don’t agree at all.

If you were to be weak in protecting your IP you’ll eventually have no way of defending yourself and it will consequently not be yours. That’s the way the world works.

    1. *grabs some popcorn & a Dr Pepper, sits back in chair, & relaxes* This is one of these articles that is bound to get a butt load of comments, entertaining ones at that, so let’s get ready to rumble! lol

    2. that they did and have every right to do it. as someone stated if someone made a game and take it as theirs and share it for free is called stealing, the only way we get a free browser zelda game is nintendo allowed them or the guys got permission from nintendo, otherwise i dont see why people are complaining, its like people complaining why devs should make a triple-a game and give it for free or letting us get away with pirating.

    3. On second thought, talking about Nintendo is starting to bore me today. Besides, The Witcher 3 is calling my name. Time for the Battle of Kaer Morhen! :D

        1. Really want to use the mods that the PC version can use, eh? *shrug* I’m content with the PS4 port.

          1. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it though! Not many games have blown me away like The Witcher 3 has in recent years. The last one that really did for me was Bioshock Infinite. Definitely in my “all time favorite” list. If I had to take a guess what might be the next to do it, I’d say Uncharted 4. Hopefully, I can add Final Fantasy XV to that list as well!

            1. A plus side with owning the console version: just one disc. I came across the game for PC at one of the Wal-Mart’s near us & it had 4 separate discs with the actual game on it. @.@

              1. A lot of physical PC games use more than one disc for installing. Bioshock Infinite uses 4 as well and The Sims 4 uses 2. I do believe this is because consoles use blu-ray discs which can store a lot more eliminating the need for multiple discs. The Xbox 360 did not use it while the PS3 did which resulted in 360 versions of games requiring 2 discs. (One for install, other for playing)

PC’s still stick to standard DVD because not a lot of people use blu ray drives with them. Digital download, especially with Steam, has become crazy popular to the point that a lot of people don’t even bother getting optical drives at all. There’s only one real reason I’d say to bother with physical copies on a PC. And that is for collectable goodies. A good number of games still do get collector’s editions on PC and they give you a download code so you won’t need to bother with the disc. I wish more console games would do this as I prefer digital. Lol.

                1. Similar to how movies these days have a digital code in the case? Cool. It would be nice if video games for consoles started doing this, I agree.

-||In other words, they knew they wasted their time because they are attention whores and humans like to waste their lives on projects made by others instead of creating their own thing||-

    1. Nintendo Sub-Commander Cereza

The first Zelda in particular has already been made 3D several times over. Doing it as a personal project is fine, but the only reason it was publicized is because all other attempts cease to exist. This creates the illusion that they were the first to accomplish this.

    2. Oh Quadraxis…
What shall we do with you.

The Kyoto whore that you cherish so much is coming to her end.. She does this to the industry to show them that she would never spread eagle unless you show her the cash..

And cash they give her.. Disgusting things she will do..

She has prostituted herself to the men of this industry, they have sown seed. A lot of seed.. And she has given birth to many titles only to be thrown away in the bargain bin. Yet she continues to sow seed.. Giving birth, and throwing it away.

We have been monitoring her position and have taken it upon are self not to destroy her. But to dominate her, Nintendo needs to be held by the neck…

  4. Damn, I knew it would have been taken down but didn’t think Nintendo would move that fast.

While I do see everyone’s point that it is Nintendo’s IP and game and they have the right to do what they did, I believe Nintendo could have done this in a much better way.

For example, take down the game temporarily and ask the creator behind it to limit the content of the game. With that done, have the creator put an eShop link to the official game in it and reupload it (basically advertising for Nintendo). That way you bring in customers AND you encourage the Nintendo community to make great things.

  6. A.) Of fucking course they did. No one thought this would stay active. Nintendo is a litigious giant. They are KNOWN for cease and desists, and they always win the fuck out of their cases in court.

B.) I left the game open on my browser as a chrome tab when I died in the 1st temple. When I just hit continue it allowed me to continue playing. I don’t know how long it will last, but I’m going to go as far as I can. This is one of the best fan projects yet. It really invigorated me to run though this game again.-
