Mario Hoops 3-On-3 Launches On Wii U Virtual Console Tomorrow

Wii U owners will soon be able to download and play Mario Hoops 3-on-3 on their console. Originally released in 2006 for Nintendo DS, the classic sports game arrives tomorrow, November 3, in North America via the Virtual Console service for $9.99. Gameplay is done using the touch screen on the Wii U GamePad, allowing you to execute tricky dribbles, special passes and sweet shots. Also known as Mario Slam Basketball, Mario Hoops 3-on-3 launched earlier this year on Wii U in Europe.

  1. Not to soun negative but it seems that Nintendo is desperate that Wii U continues to live that they are realising all 3DS games that were made by them. The only reason I am buying the Wii U is to play the 64 I miss so much.

  2. Would really have preferred for all these amazing titles to be downloadable on the 3DS eshop – on a console where they actually belong.

Please stop floating the Wii U now Nintendo. Ugh.

    1. Not for people like me. Never owned a 3DS and with the Switch; I don’t plan to buy one. I want to see if Switch will have DS/DSi/3DS virtual support. Still, this is great. I love these games on my Wii U.

  3. This game… I still have an original DS copy of it. It gets tough as nails later on. I never beat the final team by more than 200 points in order to unlock the last skin for Black Mage, the AI just gets so cheap.

    Great basketball game otherwise.

In other sports news, congrats Chicago Cubs for lifting the “curse” and winning the world series tonight!
