This was, and is a launch for gamers. There can be no doubt or questioning about this, it is fact. Yes the PlayStation 3 launched amidst scrutinizing media support on Friday, but is was evident that the initial queues comprised of Ebay ‘shysters’ rather than intransigent hardcore gamers.

And so the spectacular midnight launch began, and with unprecedented style I may add. New York Citys Time Square was amass with unyielding queues, insistent that they own what’s set to be the ultimate in newfangled revolutionary technology: the Nintendo Wii.

Evidently the alleged place to be on Saturday 18th November was outside the infamous Toys ‘R Us which is located within Time Square, where reportedly there were 7,000 of the notoriously sought-after consoles eagerly awaiting to be snapped up by emotionally roused gamers.

Not to be perturbed by the unquestionably cold weather, the community of exhilarated gamers (which comprised of more than 3,000 people) took to playing bouts of DS games to help the time pass, it was then the infamous Nintendo EVP of Sales and Marketing Reggie Fils-Aime addressed the crowd.

Thirteen minutes later ecstatic gamers were eventually allowed to venture forth into the colossal Toys R Us basement where a vast multitude of Nintendo Wii’s towered before gamers just waiting for a caring respective owner, the countdown timer hit zero and to raptious applause the crowd surged forth to the harmonious battle cry of ‘Wii!!!’

  2. Isn’t it a bit obvious that Sony simply rushed so that they can get the PlayStation 3 out before? Sony tried to sell it first so that most gamers will buy the PS3 instead of Nintendo’s Wii. In my opinion, due to their rush, 170000 of their 40000 consoles were defective…
