Hardly unsurprisingly Nintendo have clarified with Gamesindustry.biz that there’s to be no price cut on its Wii video game console for Christmas 2007.

“We’ll stay at USD 249 for the foreseeable future. We are still selling everything we can make.”

– Senior vice president of marketing for Nintendo of America, George Harrison

  1. I don’t mind the console itself, but I’d really like to see a cut on the cost of the controller peripherals.

At the moment it literally costs £50 to get yourself an extra Wiimote and Nunchuk; if you want a maximum total of four you’re looking at £150.

Seeing as the Wii itself only costs £170, it seems a bit expensive in context. If there’s one area Nintendo should reconsider the prices, it’s the controllers.
