Choice Magazine has conducted a series of tests which have highlighted just how much power is consumed by next generation consoles.
Leading the pack was the PlayStation 3, which according to Choice “consumed over 10 times as much power as the Nintendo Wii“. Coming in guilty second was Microsoft’s Xbox 360 console which was tied alongside a standard plasma television set.
Our tests also found that leaving a PlayStation 3 on while not in use would cost almost $250 (£121) a year in electricity bills (charged at 15c (7p) per kWh). This alone is around five times more than it would take to run a refrigerator for the same yearly period.

Is it wrong that I get a little feeling of glee every time I hear a bad story about the PS3 :)
No, it’s perfectly normal ;)
