Nintendo Wii: Zelda Wii Rumours Surface Ahead of Nintendo Press Conference

Fansite Zelda Informer claims to have insider knowledge regarding the next instalment of the highly awaited Zelda game for the Nintendo Wii ahead of its expected reveal tomorrow at Nintendo’s E3 press conference.

  • Zelda Wii’s official title is “The Legend of Zelda” without a subtitle.
  • The game’s setting is said to take place several hundred years before the events of Ocarina of Time, revealing how the Master sword came to be.
  • The girl in the Zelda artwork previewed at last year’s E3 is called “Zordiana”, and as expected she plays an important role.
  • Seamless dungeons – smooth graduation. There will be dungeons with no bosses, and bosses with no dungeons. The first “dungeon”, an ice level, is said to be playable at E3.
  • The hookshot is also used, but unlike past zeldas it won’t pull a player immediately towards a selected target. Players can swimg with the hookshot (like the grappling hook from Wind Waker).
  • The control for bow and arrow is said to be similar to the one used in Wii Sports Resort.
  • There are two levels of difficulty put in by Aonuma. Miyamoto didn’t want this option included, however there will be a normal mode for regular players, and a “Hero” mode with harder enemies and no “Super Guide” feature.
  • Sometimes you have to “draw” a specific symbol on a door with your sword, to open it.

Edit: Fake, here’s the real deal – Zelda: Skyward Sword

    1. That’s the original site who posted the rumour in the first place. We won’t know anything official until the Nintendo press conference tomorrow. Could be true, might not be true, although I admit it’s a little odd to make up something this close to the official announcement as it would severely damage the sites reputation : )

    1. Sega did it with that nextgen sonic the hedgehog game.

This would just be refered to as Legend of Zelda (20??)

  1. …What?
“The game’s setting is said to take place several hundred years before the events of Ocarina of Time, revealing how the Master sword came to be.”

But… there’s not supposed to be any Links before Ocarina. What is this I dont even…
No. ;-; I sure hope some of that insider info is wrong. Oh please let that part be wrong.

  2. This sounds like exactly what i was expecting!
When i was playing archery in sports resort i was thinking ‘this would be perfect for Zelda’

  3. Well to the above poster, Minish Cap was said to be one of the oldest games in the timeline (don’t remember who said it though), so Ocarina isn’t necessarily the “first story”.

Now, using just The Legend of Zelda as a title feels it will be epic.

  4. Ah, yes. I read these a few days ago, actually. I’m not sure what to think about them, lol. We’re less than 24 hours away from finding out the truth, thought!

  5. Rob – Actually, I think that there was another Link before Ocarina. In Wind Waker they explain it, in caos times at Hyrule the hero with the courage shard of triforce always appears. =]

In my opinion, this one will be amazing, just like the others. And having a “Hero” mode will sounds good, because sometimes I get tired of playing it over and over again without difficulties. Can’t wait to play it!

  6. I love Zelda and I know that Miyamoto and whatever the rumor, he will give us a masterpiece like all the games that have given us his creativity and imagination…

    Never doubt Mr. Miyamoto

  7. I dont care how they make the game its there job to be diffrent and they need to suprise us good job Nintendo

  8. I’d love to see a new Zelda. Playing Twilight Princess seemed to much like playing a GameCube title. Besides running around as a wolf again after having played Okami wasn’t particularly original.

  9. I hope every single one of these are true well I want a subtitle but won’t be the end of the world. All the 4 Sword games and Minish cap are before OoT as far as I knew (Hence Vaati and 4Sword rather than Gannon(dorf) and Master Sword) though I love the idea of MS origin

  10. Here is what was confirmed at the Press Conference:

    1. False, it’s name is Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
    2, 3. Dunno.
    4. Unless the playable demo is different from what they were playing on-stage, False.
    5. Dunno.
    6. True.
    7, 8. Dunno.

    1. Whoops, forgot to add what I think. The controls look like they’re a bit hard to get used to. On-stage, they were complaining of interference, which was causing them major difficulties, but I think that was only a part of it. Motion+ may have needed to be re-calibrated.

The artsyle looks kinda neat to me. It seems to be a mix of Wind Waker’s Cel-Shading, and TP’s realistic style. Imagine TP’s Link, which it was, and throw some cel-shading in, and you’ve got what this looks like. I kind of like it. The cel-shading was helpful for things such as the bombs explosion. It turned out to be quite an explosion, lol.
