Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo Aiming At “Core Gamers” For Nintendo 3DS Launch

Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America’s senior director of Corporate Communications has told Industry Gamers that Nintendo are aiming at “core gamers” and “Nintendo loyalists” with the launch of the Nintendo 3DS.

“We know right at launch that the people that will be most interested in buying the 3DS are people that have been buying previous versions of the DS, that are Nintendo loyalists, and people that are core gamers.”

“There was a perception years back that we were somehow moving away from that crowd, and not making games that catered to that crowd, and that’s absolutely not true. With this launch, we especially wanted to make games for them and give them what they wanted.”

“What’s our target audience down the line? It’s really all ages, both male and female, because we certainly have the software support from third parties, and then from our own first party development to make games that appeal to everybody. We don’t feel that you have to concentrate on one segment at the expense of the other.”

How about a handheld super smash bros.? I already heard about a zelda game, dead or alive, and I cannot remember the others. But still, I am excited.

      1. I can see this happening in the foreseeable future. We’ve got our first Paper Mario game on a handheld, so it goes to show how capable the system is, and how Nintendo will be handling software from now on. (More good games XD)

  3. You’re shitting me right? Let’s take a look at what Nintendo is offering us for the 3DS’ launch: Nintendogs and Steel Diver. I’m not at the point of dismissing Steel Diver before having played it, but you can’t try to tell me Nintendogs is a game for “core gamers”.

  4. This kinda irks me.

    ‘Nintendo loyalist.’

So is that why I’m having to get Street Fighter, Resi and Samurai Warriors because the Nintendo is offering us Nintendogs?
