Nintendo: IGN Predicts What They Believe We Will See At E3 2011

Online gaming publication IGN have put together a feature detailing exactly what they expect to be showcased by Nintendo at this years E3 event in June.

Whilst the Wii successor sits firmly atop of the list, IGN also believe that Nintendo will show off a new addition to the Advance Wars franchise for the Nintendo 3DS and possibly Metroid Prime 3DS, Wave Race 3DS and F-Zero 3DS.

  1. I most def predict a WaveRace 64 3D & a Metroid (of some sort). I have high doubts of a ‘Wii 2’ right now. There may be some loose talk, but thats it. Nothing to get pumped about. I just hope this ‘Cafe’ is @ LEAST as powerful as PS3 with a page taken from Microsoft’s XBox Live (at least).

  2. 1 thing I DO predict though; all companies who jumped on the Wii bandwagon late, will have killer apps to show for 3DS. They dont wanna lose out on money a 2nd time

    1. This.. a thousand times this!

I hope the next Advance Wars game returns to the good ol’ Orange Star & CO vs. Black Hole theme, though.

  4. A disclaimer about these predictions: They were made by IGN Australia, a separate entity from IGN US. Any differences between reports from the two can be explained by this, mainly the “on-par graphics” comment in this article and IGN US’ initial “well beyond 360 & PS3” news they broke.

I happen to disagree with the prediction of Skyward Sword getting the Twilight Princess delay treatment. The reason that was ported over in the first place was because of the new control scheme. With reports of the primary controllers being traditional dual-analog and motion and given that this console is backwards-compatible, there would be no good reason to make a separate version.

I would be willing to believe, however, that people would choose to play Skyward Sword on the new console for the sake of the higher resolution. Adding to speculation, their next controllers might take a note from the Super Nintendo and how it dealt with Gameboy games and NES remakes like Super Mario All-Stars by also being backwards-compatible themselves. This would make it easy enough for people to play it on the new console without shopping around for a Wiimote. If I’m right about this somehow, Nintendo might use Skyward Sword as a poster child for this system’s backwards-compatibility.
