Final Fantasy XIV coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in August

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The popular MMORPG has received numerous updates and expansions since its initial launch in 2013, and will be released this August for the first time on a Nintendo system. An exact release date has not been set, but early access will be available for free about a month prior to the official launch. Nintendo Switch Online will not be required to play, however, like with other platforms, there will be a dedicated monthly subscription. Players already subscribed elsewhere will be offered a 50% off discount to also subscribe on Switch 2.

  1. Awesome! I don’t play but I know this is a pretty big deal for a lot of people, so I’m really glad. Square Enix really has been pulling their weight on this console— and so soon after launch. This is just 2 months after Rebirth!

Capcom as well has been going crazy on the console as well. Makes me happy to see it thriving so much. I’m excited to see all the new games coming in the future :)

  2. Still bummed out that archer and bard share a class, there’s currently no pirate class, there’s no dual classing, and Square-Enix won’t make a new Final Fantasy MMO. But hey, as long as the Switch 2 version has a free trial, I have one less reason to get a gaming PC.
