Acclaimed development studio Retro Studios are apparently hard at work creating a brand new title for Nintendo’s forthcoming home console which is currently referred to as Project Cafe.
The development studio behind the Metroid Prime franchise and most recently the superb Donkey Kong Country Returns have told The Paul Gale Network that they’re working on “a project everyone wants us to do.” Any guesses to what it is?
Hopefully a 2D Metroid that redeems the franchise from that one game we don’t like to talk about.
Which one? Other M? If so, speak for yourself – the game is great. I hate how it’s been dragged down by fanboys and wannabe feminists.
That said, I’d really love to see Nintendo take Shadow Complex to where it belongs, the Metroid franchise.
I agree. Metroid fans are underrating the Other M.. It’s an awesome game, but I also agree it’s not the best. I’d like to see a Metroid Prime for the 3DS now..

I could do with a little less drama in Metroid games but I think Other M’s story was fine until it became a soap opera near the end. Still great though and wouldn’t mind another like it.
With that said, it’ll be interesting to see what Retro does next. It would be interesting for them to take up either Zelda or Star Fox.
You’re a dumb ass, this game SUCKS the graphics suck, storyline is awful, controls and camera views suck, no exploration since the game is so straightforward. All of you are faggots, play the old metroid games and even the prime series and this shit PALES in comparison, why does metroid m suck? because ninja gaiden sucks, this is what nintendo gets for working with such a shit quality company. Agreed, i loved the game-play, hated the story, i think if they keep the game-play, and change out some voice actors (or give us an option to here it in Japanese, with subs) and get a better story out, it can do some good things for the franchise.

I’d rather have a new Prime game. Though I know I will likely be sacrificed to the great goddess Mother Brain for saying this, I prefer the first-person Metroid games to the sidescrollers.
I have to agree with Anonymous, I did not like Other M at all – from the story, to Samus’s character, to the “boxy” controls in my opinion.
I would welcome Retro to do another Metroid Game or what others have said maybe another RARE gem….Star Fox!

You’re spot on, as the word is Nintendo is trying to get away from the Wii brand with this console. Really, we should be calling it Nintendo HD, but the name Wii 2 has stuck around for so long and people are used to it. We’ll probably get a name next week from the investors meeting anyway, so this won’t matter in the slightest then.
It’s the same with pretty much any other console. No matter what the next Sony or Microsoft console is, it will be called the Xbox 720 and PS4 until an official name is slapped on. Don’t count being wrong with PS4 out, btw, because Sony has the intention of not naming their next handheld the PSP2. It won’t be called NGP, but it won’t be PSP2 either.
Well considering all Nintendo did was add the number ‘3’ to the DS brand for what was supposed to be a completely new platform, even though they stated this would be changed, the name ‘Wii 2’ (yes it may suck) doesn’t seem all that unlikely…
How many years did the Game Boy franchise last? Like, 20 years? Besides, DS is short for Dual Screen, so 3DS is short for 3D Dual Screen.

I’ll have to kill this idea now before we go any further: According to Emily Rogers, Retro are NOT making another Metroid game. They’re done with that.

If you combine Donkey Kong Country Returns and Metroid Prime, you’ll probably get a side scrolling Metroid game. Super Metroid is the best Metroid and it would make perfect sense releasing another side scrolling Metroid game. A few games that went back to retro are Super Mario Wii, DKCR, and Sonic 4. And they’re all great games. Why not Metroid.
Because the Primes were better than the 2D ones.

And Other M was good. The story/voice acting were terrible, but the gameplay was awesome.
