I wouldn’t be surprised. People will start getting sick of the COD glorified map packs before long, but GTA games are actually new and fresh with each instalment, while still having an equal level of recognisability.I know which one I will and won’t be getting, at any rate.
Even if both games also come to the Wii U, I still think CoD will sell more for a multiplat and Pokemon will dominate as a system exclusive.

But, if the Nintendo Wii U comes out, with a MARIO GAME, like for example NEW SUPER MARIO BROS MII, than that may be the best selling game of the year. Well, we also first have to know how much the console and stuff cost, and yes GTA is multiplat, so it will sell good from beginning. And at the end of the day that’s the only important thing. 1. Nintendo will make money

I hate that you all keep bashing the Vita, I love the 3DS, and as a Nintendo fan want it to perform better than the Vita, but a failure for Sony in the handheld market will signal the larger decline of dedicated handheld gaming to the rise of Android/iOS, which while they have fun, addicting games, they are by no means compelling and immersive, they’re just pick up and drop (or ports of real games with ‘ok’ touch controls.)
I don’t like Vita cause what Sony did this year talking trash about Nintendo during E3 and before and now they kept their mindless mouth shut. Also Vita doesn’t have any game interesting beside getting a better fix version of Final Fantasy X my second favorite PS2 game after Battlefield 2 Modern Combat. Also Vita doesn’t seem to be handheld experience nor did the PSP for me. Also it should had did something else beside Touch Screen since I been touch screen gaming since 2007.

Besides the sales that COD keeps getting every year, I predict that GTA will be the best selling game of 2012. Why? I’m pretty sure that the audience that buys COD every year is the same audience that will be interested in GTA. Me personally, San Andreas was one of my favorite games of all time, and IMO, COD is only good for multiplayer (since pretty much everyone owns a copy). Hopefully 2012 will be the year that an actual good game sells the most, not some mediocre FPS rehashed game.

I hate to say it, but I highly doubt it. It’s sad, but the video games industry isn’t what it used to be. The market is no longer decided by true gamers looking for a great new adventure, but instead by spoiled 8-year-olds who have to get the new “hardcore” Call of Duty game that comes out every single year. I personally know many, many people who have a PS3 or Xbox 360 with the only games for both systems being nothing but Call of Duty. So sad…
I’m with you on that one. Call of Duty will sell more, but luckily GTA is one of those games “spoiled 8-year-olds” wants, so it should sell great.
Also, its just a matter of time before the CoD franchise starts dropping in sales. I’m not saying it will follow the exact same path as Guitar Hero, but I’d be damned if that ain’t a fine example of milking a franchise dry.
When people say Mario and Zelda are kiddy games, Mario has existed since ’81, zelda ’86, they have never milked those franchise dry. SMB saved video gaming and OoT is widely regarded as the best ever (although I think MM is just a hair better). CoD doesn’t have shit on nintendo
