SEGA: New Sonic animated series, Crazy Taxi movie, and Stranger Than Heaven film coming to Netflix

SEGA has announced a slew of media projects which are coming to Netflix and they involve Crazy Taxi, Sonic the Hedgehog and Stranger than Heaven. The one that fans will most likely be looking forward to the most is a new Sonic animated series mastermind by Carlos Stevens and Toru Nakahara. Here’s more details on what to expect:

“The show will present Sonic and his friends as heroes for an upper pre-school audience, touted as a “high-voltage, comedic, yet emotionally grounded series built for kids who want to feel a little edge, a little attitude, and a lot of ‘that’s my crew’ wish fulfillment.”

“Great games already have what every adaptation is chasing — characters people love, worlds they know by heart, and fandoms that show up,” said Brandon Riegg, VP of nonfiction and transmedia at Netflix, in a statement. “With ‘Crazy Taxi,’ ‘Sonic’ and ‘Stranger Than Heaven,’ we get to work across three completely different eras of Sega’s catalog, celebrating everything fans love, while introducing them to new audiences.”

Toru Nakahara, head producer at Sega, commented: “Expect something cute yet cool for ‘Sonic,’ hilariously crazy for ‘Crazy Taxi’ and a badass action drama for ‘Stranger Than Heaven,’ because we’ve got some amazing creative ideas lined up and we are just getting started. The whole team is absolutely thrilled!”

  1. Watch that show getting cancelled. Or turned into another Sonic Prime (as in a mid show with a very small budget). I miss stuff like Sonic X. It wasn’t perfect, but it had SOMETHING.
