New Mega Man Developed By WayForward Is Unlikely Says Capcom

Californian developer WayForward, the development studio behind A Boy and His Blob and Contra 4 has revealed that it’s continuously receiving requests from fans to develop the next Mega Man game. Sadly Christian Svensson, Capcom’s VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development has stated that it’s highly unlikely that WayForward would get the chance to create the next Mega Man game.

I’m also a WF fan and I’m familiar with their work. I’ll never say never but there’d be a million approvals before a MM title could ever be produced in the West.

  1. Mega Man isn’t really about the super-smooth animation and fanservicey art that is WayForward’s trademark. I feel like it might lose a bit of its “video-gamey-ness” if Wayforward handled it.

But then again, neither was Contra and Contra4 did just fine.

  2. The way Capcom has been acting lately, he might as well have said “…there’d be a million approvals before a MM title could be produced ever again.”

  3. Capcom CEO:Nope! We’re not taking any new ideas for Mega Man games. We have to focus on Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Turbo Championship Edition

  4. Too bad. Imagine Symphony of the Night, Mega Man style, as one large castle broken into separate areas occupied by different robot masters. Would’ve been great.

  5. Come on Capcom Wayforward is the best for the job they probably can make a new Mega man x game and make it like the SNES one fucking crapcom >:l

  6. Fuck you Capcom.. You killed your best franchise other than Monster Hunter. Not only that, but you’re losing your supporters because you’ve become a SELL OUT! You ruined most of your franchises by Americanizing their style AND your ‘games’ for iphone require you to BUY the upgrades and characters. You were my favorite company up to 2010. Dammit all!

  7. What’s really sad is that Capcom has some very talented people making games, but also lots of a-holes for executives taking business decisions.

  8. Resident Evil Revelations will probably be my last Capcom game. Afterwards, I’m banning their asses from adding any new games on my shelves.

(And this is not JUST about WayForward)

    1. The most enjoyable games I’ve bought from the eShop are WayForward’s!
Their original games are incredibly addicting, original and in extra modes quite difficult!!
I wish they can develop as many games as they can and of course continue their original games coming, not just developing other companies games.
      Santae 3 anyone?
What about Mighty Switch Force 2?
Or even Mighty Flip Champs 2?
Or just another ‘Mighty Something’ game’??
      Can’t wait ;) ;) ;)

      1. I’d be all for a longer Shantae or Switch Force as a full-fledged console game at this point. I think they’ve earned the good reputation by now, haven’t they?

  9. Why not give it to a Western developer Capcom?

It’s not like you’re doing anything else productive with the franchise.

    1. Besides, look at what Nintendo did when they gave Metroid to a western developer.

      Pretty much saved the franchise.

    1. Hey class, come over here! This is this the “Average Troll”. A very common siting in the Internet. As displayed, these trolls are very uneducated, grammar-wise and also have very bad comprehensions of other companies they don’t worship. Okay now, though it is harmless, you should never get near it as you may scare the pathetic thing and it will most likely end up frightened. Now, go scurry off and search your kiddy sites, educational videos, or pornography, or whatnot.

    1. Followed by Super duper Mega Xtreme Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Hyper Turbo HD championship 3D edition..same as SF4…

  11. Mighty Switch Force is just like MegaMan and what Capcom should do is give the MegaMan rights to WayForward and start working on MegaMan X9, MegaMan 11, and rework MegaMan Legands 3, and it’s not even Capcom fault that they are getting alot of hate from MegaMan and Street Fighter fans it’s Yoshinori Ono’s fault that he ruined games like Street Fighter 4 and Marvel Vs Capcom 3 so yeah i would love to see Wayforward make new MegaMan games like MegaMan X9 my money will go to them instead of buying Super Ultra Street Fighter 4 3D Arcade Edition
