Microsoft, rather than Nintendo or Sony, will win this years E3 event according to the majority of IGN readers who were surveyed in a recent poll. The publication asked its substantial user base a number of questions related to the forthcoming trade show and sadly the results make bad reading for Nintendo fans. Sony should be pleased as IGN readers were more interested in receiving information about the next PlayStation console during the event, rather than the next Xbox or Wii U.

I’m actually rather excited for Microsoft this year. What worries me about Nintendo us the rumor that it may only be 300 dollars for the console/tablet. While that’s a great price, it’s also a bad thing because it means not as much finance was put into it, so I think that they will be behind again. While innovation is great, you can’t back it up without console competition.
The thing you have to remember with Nintendo is that they can make high-end systems and still keep them cheap. Such as, for example, between the GameCube and PS2, the PS2 costed about $100 more than the GameCube, even though the GameCube was noticeably more powerful.

Sorry, but with today’s possibilities nobody would prefer a game with graphics of the like of A Link To The Past over the graphics which are possible to be made nowadays (games that are made today, I mean). And I’m saying this with A Link To The Past being one of my favourite Zelda games ever. In my opinion it doesn’t make much sense to compare the graphics of very old games with the games of today. The reason why you prefer A Link To The Past over any Zelda game is probably because you associate it with your first Zelda-experiences and because it’s connected to the “good old times”. Well, that’s why I prefer it over other Zelda games, of course I can’t be sure if you feel the same. But why do you prefer A Link To The Past over the older Zelda games ? Because it looks better than the previous ones (Well, again, I do, certainly can’t know about your opinion). Wouldn’t you like to see a remake of it with fantastic graphics ? I would. But I probably wouldn’t prefer it over the original one because of the reasons above. But if we would have such a remake and would let people, who never played any Zelda game before, test both of them, I’m almost sure that the majority would prefer the remake with “good” graphics. I think it’s all just a question of experience one had with games, time and even nostalgia.

When you consider it, any opinion is biased. I have to also wonder though, if thats a true statistic. I also find it kind of sad that the only thing IGN readers are concerned about is a huge jump in graphics. This is very bad because I think they will be disapointed by the next generations graphics capabilities. There’s no way its even at the level of modern gaming PC’s, and if thats the case there’s going to be a lot of sad fans. Maybe that will push them towards greater experiences in gameplay and control.

The thing that gets me is almost every single american run gaming website or almost every big american youtuber or personality seems to do all their gaming on the xbox and as I said think of it as the most superior console of all time. And this really frustrates me. Sure everyone is entitled to their opinions and preferences I guess it’s just you never see people talking about the Wii or even the Ps3 as much as people talk about the xbox on these american shows. I mean look at Spike TV with their coverage of E3 and such, they are so unbelievably biased towards Xbox and seem to think everyone who likes Nintendo are idiots.

This is hilarious, in an understated sort of way, because Microsoft has placed dead last during the previous 2 (maybe even 3 or 4) E3 presentations by basically any reasonable measure. The company routinely relies on a Halo game to win over its core fans, and that works year after year… as far as those fans are concerned. The many people who are indifferent to Halo (or tired of it) just scratch their heads and go back to anticipating all the great stuff that Nintendo and Sony announce. Microsoft and Sony have both confirmed that their systems won’t make an E3 appearance, so it looks like the people who responded to that survey are in for some fairly serious disappointment.
So by this survey… they are most excited to see things that have already been confirmed as no shows. They are most excited to see improved graphics despite the fact that many developers have already said that graphics cannot get much better than they already are, and they believe that a company that has very few exclusives will win E3 this year. I weep for humanity sometimes.

Actually, Miyamoto DID confirm recently that Mario would appear at E3 2012, and would be similar to that NSMB Mii tech demo we saw last year.

He said something like that it was going to be based on the tech demo. He probably means that in terms of allowing you to play with Mii characters instead of just the Mario gang.

I don’t take IGN’s polls seriously, because the IGN community is packed full of typical American Xbox lovers (Coming from an American myself) who don’t keep an open mind about the art of game design. They’re not interested in the artistic aspect. If you can’t learn to appreciate the art of game design, rather than just thinking about your own selfish, close minded wants, the poll shouldn’t be taken seriously. In fact I remember at the start of this gen, IGN readers took part in a poll deciding which console will sell the most units, and IGN readers voted the Xbox 360 to sell up to 100 million units by 2010, leaving the PS3 in 2nd, and Wii in last.

I’m not sure. It doesn’t make sense to me, considering that Xbox is sorta mediocre compared to, say, the overall releases of PS3 and Wii. I don’t see how they can expect it to suddenly be generations ahead of the competition. But, the public is rather fickle, so I suppose they will change their minds as time marches on.
I highly doubt that. If anything, they will lose E3, with Sony in second and Nintendo in first. Unless Microsoft has Gears of War 4 and other stuff, I don’t see them winning with just Halo 4. I’m sure Sony will announce interesting things being that their Vita is failing (I wouldn’t expect too much content announced for PS3). I expect Nintendo to steal the show, with WiiU having strong multiple first party games and strong 3rd party support. Also, I expect 3DS owners to be blown out the water with first party titles.

And if people want realistic graphics there’s also a very interesting little thing called REAL LIFE and it’s very interactive. I prefer good gameplay and art. Realistic graphics are to bland I prefer ff (not realistic), god eater, windwaker. Basically artistic and colorful graphics and they don’t have to be real good just not crappy. and gameplay as to match my taste for me to play them. But In the end it’s matter of opinion and tastes so let them think they’re console is better. Their loss if they want to be close minded.

I know it went more “casual” this time and had a lack of third-party support, but for a serious gamer not to take it seriously is just ridiculous. Especially with the new system right around the corner (Wii U) and the year old 3DS that continues to show more and more potential as a viable system (hardcore and otherwise). And how can any gamer consider graphics over gameplay. Anyone who has played games any length of time has had to have been let down by the glamor of a pretty game.. I know I have. Gameplay. Gameplay. I say, wait till after E3 to make such judgments of a “winner” of E3. It’s senseless to try to guess long-distance who will “win” based on such little information. But even then, given who’s given the most information about ANY console, so far, it’s been only Nintendo. So far, we’ve heard absolutely nothing official from Microsoft yet, and Sony has straight-out said they have no PS4.

You’re completely wrong. I think you’re confusing Nintendo for Microsoft’s Kinect for 360. Sony had lost over $6 billion as well as poor Vita sales and their lineup was extremely weak. Nintendo will once again change the system and revolutionize the way we play video games.

I’ll say it again: The community, not the staff, are the worst thing about the website. Some pretty terrible articles can come out from time to time, but it’s the mentality of the comments section there that drives the whole site down. Machinima is also right up there with them.
Sometimes I wish a new company would enter the console scene and come out with a system that only plays games, has these specs being asked for and has the most traditional controller possible so that these people can finally shut up about it. Then again, the ridiculously high price tag might be a reason to still complain. So tis the internet.
