Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has told USA Today that the company believes sales of the Nintendo 3DS handheld in the United States have been “very strong” despite the rise of tablet and smartphone gaming. Reggie says that Nintendo has sold eight million Nintendo 3DS consoles in the United States since launching the device in 2011. The original Nintendo DS sold seven million during the same time period.
“That gives us a lot of confidence and a lot of belief that with great content and great experiences, the 3DS is going to be a very healthy platform.”
“In the end, it’s all about the games and our ability to launch strong software on a regular pace to drive the hardware business. From a consumer standpoint, it’s all about the content.”

I love my WiiU. I play online with several of my friiends, and have enjoyed HD console gaming for the first time.

This gives them leeway to plot a great and prosperous path for the Wii U. When the xbox720 is announced and all it’s features revealed nintendo shall unleash the Wii U as the have done the 3DS. Wait! Monster hunter 3 Ultimate, Lego city undercover, need for speed most wanted, e-shop gems, third party galore being released every month the Wii U is in good shape. I wished they would’ve talked more about the Wii U during the Direct, but I think its pretty obvious that they’re gonna stay quiet about it until E3 & they’re getting all of the 3DS stuff out of the way so they have more time at the event. ;)

I disagree. I think it’s just the opposite. Last year they only briefly mentioned the 3DS in the keynote speech at E3 and had a separate event later-on for the 3DS. They may be planning something similar this year.
Just based on showing off the new Mario Galaxy (probable,) Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Yoshi’s Yarn, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Bayonetta 2, Windwaker HD, Miyamoto’s new IP, the Retro Studios game and MAYBE at least a trailer for the new Zelda HD game would be enough in and of itself for a full conference from Nintendo. We already know that were are many other unannounced 1st-party Wii U titles and 3rd-party Wii U titles. Nintendo usually sticks to about an hour for their keynote address, but they might need to go overtime this year.
I think their saving e3 for the wii u. The 3ds is already established. :)
