Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies Coming To The West This Fall

Capcom has confirmed that Ace Attorney 5 will be coming to North America and Europe this fall. The game will be titled Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies and will be released as a digital download on the Nintendo 3DS via the eShop. It’s down to Phoenix Wright and his team at the Wright Anything Agency to discover the cause of the destruction. Players will have to battle it out in court against Gaspen Payne, the younger brother of Winston Payne from previous Ace Attorney titles, as they defend the accused.

Thanks, Sam C

    1. I assume it’s because the game wouldn’t be financially viable unless it was eShop-only. I mean, that’s why Ace Attorney Investigations 2 wasn’t localised, and Code of Princess was eShop-only in Europe. I’m glad we’re getting the game, and whilst I won’t miss the box as I’m an eShop gamer anyway, I understand why some people are upset.

  1. The 3DS just won’t stop will it ? Big game after big game keeps getting announced….

It’s AWESOME but it’s overwhelming for ones wallet , ya know ? I’m gunna have to skip a lot of these games and come back to em when nothing else is out.

  2. It’s awesome that the game is on its way, and I’m very greatful for that. But e-shop only? It kind of feels like they don’t care about sharing it with the rest of the world at all. And that’s it’s just thanks to digital distribution that they even try at all.:(
I wonder if they’ll listen if people tell them? Because if Phoenix Wright doesn’t justify physical copys, what does?

    1. Monster Hunter 4. And don’t get to upset. I’m glad it’s even coming at all. Even if it doesn’t sell well, at least the fan base will have access to it

    2. It is cheaper by putting it up for digital store than putting it out for retails. Don’t forget that it have to ship oversea as well which cost even more. The base is very small in North America. I am not surprised it is only e-shop exclusive in North America when Japan got retail and digital copies. If the copies didn’t sell well in the west then there are almost no loss in business for Capcom part. In other word, we are very lucky to get this game in the west.

  3. i don’t like the digital only aspect. i might have to wait until the e-shop drops the price on this one.

  5. Making it a digital-exclusive is a bad move. It would have been better if they sell it both physically AND digitally.

      1. They probably doing this because the fan base is very small in North America. I am sure they know there are a lot of people would rather buy retail copies. Its just cost them too much money to bring it oversea in term of physical copies. If the base is huge then I am sure they wouldn’t released it in digital copy only in the first place.

      1. Ah, but have you forgotten that it’s because they have to follow RRP/MSRP to not screw retailer over? They don’t compete with retailers this way, so they’re free to price them as they want.

  7. I’m not a fan of digital copies (Fire Emblem Awakening being the only one I got), but I’ll be happy to buy this on the eShop the second it’s released.

  8. yesssssssssssssss now i juest need dq7 remake and i can die happy.
i hope capcom gonna sell the whole game and not to sell “chapters” separately.
    WOWOWOWOW I HAPPY.
PS. CAPCOM WHILE you at it. please port the orginal okami to the 3ds. do it eshop only game if you dont wanna lose money just do it.

    1. I don’t know if you have PS3 but PS3 do have Okami on PSN store. But I agree that playing Okami on portable device would be cool. ;)

  9. Awesome. Yet another game I wanna get a 3DS for. However, when the hell is Capcom gonna release the second Miles Edgeworth game into English! I just finally beat the first one, and I wanna play the sequel! Especially for the part where you play as Miles’ dad!

  10. So Capcom releases in Japan a digital version, a retail version and a special edition version. However, the rest of the world only gets the digital version; so that they can save money? It’s difficult to like a company that doesn’t seem to like you…

  11. CAPCOM MUST DIE FOR THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. AWWWW DIGITAL ONLY? :(( I guess I’ll have to beg my parents to let me use a credit card. I need this game! Does anyone know if buying digital games on eShop with a fake country and zip code works? My country isn’t listed on the eShop, so I had to fake everything. :P It’ll be ok as long as I use an international card, right?

  13. Still a first day purchase for me! ^_^ But I would really prefer getting the physical copy of my first Phoenix Wright game… T_T And I also wanted that collector’s edition they had in Japan *o* I hope they still release it with a download code or something instead of the physical game if they won’t change their mind about going digital only.
