Jeremy Miller, video game analyst for DFC Intelligence, says that the company expects Wii U sales to be slightly higher than the GameCube, which launched in 2001 and 2002. Miller says that the machine will appeal to the hardcore Nintendo fans, but it won’t capture the mainstream audience in the same way as the original Wii console did in 2006. He went on to say that he thinks initial sales for this generation will be better than last generation for Microsoft and Sony because of limited competition from Nintendo.
“The Wii U is more of a loyalist Nintendo system right now and is looking more like the Gamecube, but our forecasts are higher than for the GameCube. The Wii U and its lineup is very much targeted to a core Nintendo fan. In that it seems pretty successful. The problem is many people are expecting another Wii in terms of sales and we don’t see that happening. As a company Nintendo probably needs to learn to make due with a smaller but more dedicated audience.”

The same with PS Vita, it’s way too underrated and it actually has a lot of awesome games.

If Wii U is the Wii then PS Vita is the Dreamcast 2.0, since third parties outside of the niche group are avoiding that platform like a plague. Even Wii U has way better 1st party support than the Shita ever did since released.
If only the Vita would slash the price. That’s the biggest issue for the console.
I suspect a price cut will come around Gamescom. I don’t think the system needs a price cut itself, I just think it needs better memory solutions. Cheaper memory cards with larger space, or built-in storage on the Vita. At least 16-32 GB like a smartphone or tablet. Then provide the option for expandable memory with a memory card.
Supposedly Gamescom is supposed to be big for the Vita, but this E3 was rather disappointing. The system has a lot of support from indies and is gaining support from more Japanese devs, but it needs more than that. Hopefully we’ll some movement in that area soon.

If the PS4 is unable to run the full featureset of UE4 WHILE being well beyond anything Wii U then what do you think a Wii U UE4 demo would look like.
The Wii U is said to fully support the UE4 which is much more than what is possible with the PlayStation 3’s and Xbox 360’s ~20%.
So what would make more sense to you? Scale down Unreal Engine 4 until it’s Unreal Engine 3 (~100%) level or use Unreal Engine 3 from the get go ?

LOL. Do people not realize how this industry has been shrinking? Between the piss awful economy and market stagnation as well as increased competition from emerging platforms, you’d have to be a fool to think the PS4 and Xbox One will be able to sell as well as their predecessors, much less outsell them. Another to consider is the fact that the PS3 and Xbox 360 (especially 360) have/had high bricking rates so a lot of people had to buy more than one PS3 and 360. What they say about the Wii U though makes sense. If Nintendo gets their marketing together, I don’t see why the Wii U couldn’t sell 50 million units lifetime.
Industry sinking? How when Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Hyundai, Honda and Chrysler sales surpassed ytd sales in 2008, 09′ ,10′ 11, and 12′. If alllll those millions of people bought new cars, they can buy video gaming consoles. So that’s BS. People do what they want with their money.
Ford, Dodge and Honda are apart of an industry that will never go away,(People need cars). Nintendo, Sony and M$ on the other hand… The industry seems like its sinking, two of the three 8th generation platforms are not doing so good, the Xbox One is apparently DOA, Smartphones and tablets are getting more popular with gaming… Yea this industry is crippled… But can be recovered If Wii U sales pick up and the PS4 succeeding.
If we are going to be completely honest here, the only one relevant in the end is Nintendo since their games cannot be found anywhere else…

Iwata is stuck in the stone age, It is his doing. He will either burn Nintendo to the ground before he leaves or he will be forced out before that happens. Nintendo will face a loss each year until the end of this generation, they fucked it up big time. Nintendo releasing the console a year early was the biggest mistake Nintendo has made in recent memory. The reason for the lack of advertising is because the WiiU is targeted to cores but the games are targeted to casuals. Iwata went half assed on the WiiU and will pay for it with his tenure as president.
Considering how the 3DS was created under his time, he is forgiven…
