The official Nintendo of America website states that Nintendo Entertainment System classic Metroid will be coming to the North American Wii U Virtual Console next week.The first installment of the immensely successful Metroid series introduces us to the hideous title creatures and the slick, cybernetic bounty hunter Samus Aran. As Samus, your mission is to penetrate the space pirates’ home planet, Zebes, and keep them from destroying the galaxy with the dangerous life forms known as Metroids. Metroid has all the high-tech weaponry, creepy tunnels and crawly alien creatures that anyone could ask for. With its deep and complex game play, excellent music and a rare sense of setting, it establishes a frightening ambience that will haunt and entertain you for a very long time. The game is supposedly due to be released on July 11th and will retail for $4.99.

The VC games run smoother and more organically on Nintendo hardware. Besides, nothing beats good ‘ol analog buttons when it cones to playing these… However, as I stated, I literally would be buying it a 3-4 the time… It would be nice if I could play it on my WiiU at no additional charge as I’ve paid for it several times already…

I still have my Gamecube with GBA attachment! My Wii is sitting directly on top of my Wii U, so if I want to play GCN or Virtual Console games…I turn on my Wii!
If I want to play Lego City or Darksiders 2, I turn on Wii U! Both play Netflix and Wii U has great internet! GCN has GBA attachment, so I can enjoy them on the big screen! Only the BEST VC games will make it onto Wii U…aside from that, I’m perfectly happy with my many games of yesteryear! :P

They have no obligation to make their console backwards compatible all the way to the NES games, and you are not forced to buy it for the every new console.

Look at Sony, no downloaded games will be backwards compatible.
Sure they are making the “cloud” service for them someday, but who’s to say you get the games you already purchased for free?
For at least they will be behind the PS+ pay wall.

That instead of remaking they need more new games with a different gameplay or another story… If they combine both they could bring new and old gamers that enjoy classics. They need both of them to improve. Looks like we have to wait next year because the good games are coming…
