Ubisoft Says Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist Is A “Great Fit” For Wii U

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist arrives next month on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Although the game will be released on multiple platforms, the Wii U version seems to be garnering the most attention. The game’s creative director, Maxime Beland, has told Gaming Bolt that the Wii U version is a “great fit” for Nintendo’s latest console. For example, the main character of the game, Sam Fisher, carries a device called the OPSAT, which, in many ways, resembles a Wii U GamePad controller.

“Splinter Cell Blacklist as a game is a great fit for the Wii U. What’s fun and interesting is that Sam Fisher has an OPSAT in the game that he uses in the same way players can use the Wii U gamepad when playing Splinter Cell Blacklist. Sam uses his OPSAT to control gadgets like the triorotor, which the player can also do using the gamepad. I’m proud of the fact that our Wii U implementation makes sense in the Splinter Cell universe, it feels like a really natural platform for Splinter Cell Blacklist,” said Beland.

“Ubisoft Toronto is looking at new technology and seeing in which ways their features make sense to use for our brands. As I mentioned earlier, using the Wii U gamepad for Splinter Cell Blacklist makes sense. It’s an extension for what Sam does in the game. It’s great feeling when new technology immerses the player into gameplay in a fun and realistic way.”

    1. And on topic, I am kind of interested in buying this (as long as I have the money… So many games coming out in the future months). What is the exact release date again?

GOOD FIT FOR Wii U MEANS THAT IT USES THE “GAMEPAD” WELL. YOU KNOW THE Wii U’s “NEW” CONTROLLER….

INTERESTING! BUT, I HAVE NEVER BEEN A FAN OF SPLINTER CELL….SOOO IDK IF I SHOULD BUY THIS GAME!

  7. So can’t wait to get this game. Glad that I pre-ordered. WII U OWNERS DON’T FUCK UP AND LET THIS GAMES SALES GO TO SHIT!!!! WE NEED TO PROVE TO UBISOFT THE WII U IS A GOOD PLATFORM FOR THEM TO PUT THEIR GAMES ON DAMMIT!!!! ……sorry for the rant but I’ve been trying to campaign to get the sales of this game up.

    1. Indeed we want the 3rd party’s but never support them. With this being multiplat and at the same time (unlike many others) we should buy it for Wii U.

    2. is the game in general any good though ?

i did have this on pre-order, but i have cancelled it a few weeks back because of the bad things i heard about the game in general, i was going to get some free extra content for pre-ordering it but it’s not worth buying if its rubbish, if it turns out ok i’ll pick up up used as GTA5 will be taking all my time, pity my WiiU isn’t getting a look-in this year.

  8. Ubisoft: The Tale of Jeckyll and Hyde. At one moment we have them pretty much giving Nintendo an Ultimatum to sell more units by Christmas time otherwise they will no longer support them and on the other they say Splinter Cell is perfect for Wii U.

  9. I’m still waiting on reviews as to whether or not the single player experience is worth the money. Granted I’m still playing the Last of Us is single player (second play-through), so my expectations are very high at the moment.

  10. I’ve never been a splinter cell fan, but idly I love Metal Gear. However, Given the Effort Ubi claims they put into the WiiU, version, I will make this a day-1 purchase. It’s been a long time since I played a SC title, and this seems like a great time to try again!

thanks Ubisoft, and can people get off their balls now?!

  11. Always the whiners… lol facepalm. Your mothers must be anxious to get rid of you spoiled little girls.

    1. Ubisoft haven’t actually been proven to say anything bad about ZombiU sales; quite the opposite actually.

It was just the author of that article claiming they weren’t pleased with sales of ZombiU.
