It has been revealed that if you want to download Pokemon X & Y from the Nintendo 3DS eShop then you will need at least 1.7GB of free space. 1.7GB is roughly 14,000 blocks. It has also been confirmed that you’ll be unable to have two games communicate on the same system should both be downloaded.

You can only use maximum 32 gig memos in 3DS.

Well i was gonna buy an Xl, and give my orignal 3ds to my brother, and upgrade to a 16gb Sd(with animal crossing i’ve fallen in love with midnight release downloads), so no big deal for me

I’m hoping to buy a 3DS for X and Y, but I’m not savvy with downloadable games, so can someone confirm – it doesn’t need that for the physical copy, right? Because that’s the version I’ll get regardless. At some point I’m going to want to communicate between my own games, and I can’t do that if they’re all built in to one system.
You could get one downloadable and one and then get a physical copy of the other. Then you would be able to communicate between them. Either way you would need two 3DS’ though.
When I saw 1.7GB, I was like “holy shit it must be huge”. Then came the 14,000 blocks conversion and I’m like “..what? That’s nothing. I got 170,000+ blocks in my 32GB card”

Man, I’m afraid that I’ve completely outgrown Pokémon games. I have no interest whenever I see news about a Pokémon game. And that’s a shame, because I LOVED Pokémon Diamond. But I have both Pokémon White version 1 AND 2, and I never touch them. I don’t think I should waste my money on any more unless I start playing the ones I already have, and finish THOSE first. Which may never happen. And I would NEVER get the digital version of any game. Such a freakin’ waste.
No digital copies arent a waste, for instance in you highly value a game then you’d want a digital copy as to not risk damage of the game due to physical matters, that and the fact that trade in values for games are shit, so it just makes more since for a digital copy(if you can afford it)
P.S why would you buy Pokemon white 2 if you had never touched the orignal, makes no sense….

I loved black.white( we finally got a pokemon games heavy in story and character development) my only problem with X/Y is if they regressed into the earlier gens that didnt have any story,(Gens 1 and 3 specifically)

Shin Megami Tensei IV was about that many blocks. It took a while to download,but it’s not a lot of space. I have Mario Kart 7, Project X Zone, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Fire Emblem Awakening and SMT IV, (and a handful of lesser VC titles), and I still have over 200,000 blocks left of free space. I just hope Nintendo works on some digital security.
I have the same games downloaded. Your games are secure and fine. If your 3DS is broken or you upgrade, the games come with you. ;)
No, they don’t. If you upgrade you can do a system transfer assuming you didn’t trade in your 3DS for the new one. As for a broken/stolen system, there’s no such thing as a 3DS/Nintendo “account”. All digital purchases are tied to the 3DS they are purchased from. Thankfully Nintendo said they plan on rectifying this horrible system later this year.

I feel like waiting for the sequel or rehashed third game instead of wasting money on one of these and then being tempted to get that inevitable sequel or rehashed third game. tough decision.
@Croxynd, they will most likely go the 5th gen way and do sequels instead of X version, Y version, Z version like we never got Grey version but i thing its great that they did something different so i think X2 and Y2 would be even better
Nintendo could just make an application that reads/edits both the savefiles since they’re on the SD card anyway.. But I suppose they’re too lazy. Also I doubt many people will download both games so it’s not that big a deal. I can see why they wouldn’t want to put the effort into it.

What would happen if i downloaded the digital copy of X/Y, got a really cool ‘mon(shiny 31EVs) then i back up the data, go and deposit the ‘mon into the GTS(or trade to a friend), but then i restore the save file to when i had the ‘mon in my PC, eventually trade back the original and now i have a cloned Pokémon. Would that be feasible?
