The difference, which would have caused Xenoblade (and Nintendo systems, and probably ANY gaming systems) never to exist in the first place if Japan or the US had become socialist/communist countries back then, is that socialism/communism tends to dismiss such basic economic laws, which lends to less stuff being marketed or even created in the long run.
That’s what happened in every single socialist/communist experiment ever made – in Cuba, having access to beer and bananas is considered a luxury, for example.

I Honestly dont see whats the big deal with this game is. Out of all the 3 OR games, The Last Story is the only one i liked.

Nintendo will redo it someday. Not sure if they’ll do it for the Wii U since it’d be easier to just reprint it (it looks decent enough with the Wii U’s upscaling), but at most in their next console there’ll be a new collection.
Wii U upscaling is very controversial.
Nintendo itself denied Wii U upscaling, but some people have been reporting clear both image and sound improvements. To be honest, I see no difference at all. But maybe I’m not the best guy to notice that little differences.
But, if there is a difference, I wonder whether it has something to do with the difference between digital and analogue inputs/outputs.

Well, but now became clear that the image quality of Wii games improves in some extent upon the use of Wii U. When at home, I’ll check that out again, but, still, maybe my eyes and brain miss those subtle differences.
it doesn’t matter.. you’re confusing upscaling with native rendering.. all upscaling does is bloat the image up to a higher resolution.. now if the upscaling filter is good it will correctly interpolate color values in between the sampled pixels and thus smooth edges.. the image won’t have any more detail (you’re just adding the intermediate color in between 2 pixels after all) but it will have a lot less jaggies..
if the wii U didn’t do the upscaling your TV would (if it didn’t you’d have a big black letterbox on all 4 sides and in the center of your screen you’d have the 480p original image).. so it really doesn’t matter if the wii U does it or not (it does).. what counts is the quality of the filter
however upscaling from 480p to 720p or 1080p isn’t that simple since those resolutions aren’t a whole-number multiple of the original resolution
in that case the image often doesn’t end up looking much better even with a good filter .. but a difference should be noticeable

First thing I did when I got the Wii U (well, after playing some ZombiU while I was waiting for that big 1.2 GB update to finish) was to transfer the save from – guess what? – Xenoblade Chronicles to it (I had not finished the game yet).
I put the game on the Wii and then on the Wii U on the same television right away, and I noticed some improvement. Maybe it’s only noticeable because I have a smaller TV (32 inches only), who knows. It could only be a a case of better use of filters. The image was just clearly sharper.
That didn’t happen with all games though. I put on Cursed Mountain yesterday and it looked the same. Metroid: Other M looked only slightly sharper, not to the same degree as Xenoblade. And so on.

I was remembering now all the hype on an specific Wii emulator for PC. It has been claimed that it is capable of running Wii titles in HD resolution. Despite the fact that due to personal beliefs I’d never use that, the point is: if that is true – Wii titles rendered in HD resolution – it means that the data contained in the discs can be read in a way that the image can be processed in HD. I don’t understand anything about technology and I may causing little commotion, but that’s really intriguing.
It looks good with the upscaling, but it could be SO much better.
I’m wondering if I would keep my original Wii copy of the game if they did release an HD remake.
It’s sad, but it was supposed to happen since it was distributed only by GameStop. In summary, Xenoblade Chronicles hard copies turned into a collector’s item too fast.
The game is outstanding, and I’m sorry about those who don’t have a copy or cannot afford buying one now, because it undoubtedly will be considered a classic Wii title – that’s why I stand the Wii as an excellent home console. Its gaming library contains nice gems that will be always remembered.
On top of that, this issue rises up the discussion about Nintendo’s policies about localization and distribution here in the West. Definitely, this is a case that needs to be thought about and for which a solution must be found.

I guess I got really luck when buying this game then. I rented it when it came out, and then played through it and sent it back, and bought it when it went down to £20 for a while, a few months later.
I actually got it for 25 euro preowned at my local gamestop 2 months ago. They have the last story and Pandora’s Tower also for 30 euro each. I may pick them up soon! They don’t understand the gems they have because we are not really a Nintendo predominant country here in Ireland :)

I like how a couple people blame Nintendo for this price. No game creator sets the price for used games at retail…ever. Although, this is partially NOA’s fault for only sending it to GameStop for retail, at the same time, you have to blame GameStop. I’ve never seen them pull a price like this. I’ve even seen a few copies of Metroid Prime Trilogy used and they aren’t $89.99 (and that game, at this point, is of MORE value than Xenoblade). To sum things up:

I got my copy of metroid prime trilogy used and in near perfect condition from game (englands main video game retailer) for £3 :). I hadn’t played the first 2 but loved 3 and thought this was an amazing bargain (it was btw). I would have been happy to pay 10x the amount.
But anyway I agree with you $90 is far too much for any Wii game, no matter how good it is. It will put many people off buying the game being at such a high price, I’ve never seen a game sold at game for more than £69.99, even then I find that high.

Yea I agree that it is dumb for store exclusive games. I don’t think Nintendo realize that a lot of gamers don’t really shop at Gamestop.
yeah its stupid but whos fault is it???? yeah thats right its nintendos!!!!! the only reason that we get to have such a great game like this in america is because of greedy gamestop, apparently cares more to the costumer than nintendo. nintendo should have fucking released this game on amazon too and they should reprint it because this game gave me the feeling when i first played OOT and thats near impossible to get that feeling from a game again. only a select few games ever do that too.

X will most likely be a day one download on e shop.I think all first party games are? So there is rely no chance of this happening all over again with X.That said I will always buy disc over digital if given the option.And wish everyone else did also.At this rate we will be digital only buy next gen.

I bought xenoblade and metroid prime trilogy around 63 each about 2 months ago in wisconsin at gamestop.
Damn, both of those cost me $90 (MPT being $50).
The only game sI would pay that much for is Metroid Prime Tarilogy, MM Remake and Perfect Dark Remake…
I waited a week after it was released to get it, cuatros I knew that some idiot would give it back to GameStop, so I got mine “used” at $40 instead of $49.

I feel like you’d have to be an idiot to trade your copy of Xenoblade in, even for this price. Especially to Gamestop’s greedy ass self. Nintendo won’t release Xenoblade digitally any time soon in the next coming years, and to add, I highly doubt Wii games will be released on virtual console. Doesn’t even stand as a proper use of resources to release Wii games on the Wii U eShop from a business perspective when the Wii U is backwards compatible to Wii, considering their last fiscal year. History has and always will have the supply n demand rare games. It’s what keeps the industry going and gets people off their asses to go buy an actual copy of a game while it’s on store shelves. Why the hell you think games such as Chrono Trigger still run you a pretty penny and came out damn near two decades ago? N I PROMISE you, you ain’t ever gon see that shit on virtual console lol.

My girlfriend gave me a new copy of the game for Christmas :’)
GameStop now has over 2000 copies available at there warehouse………. They sold through their initial stock but had some hidden away. Then they eliminated the new sku and started jacking up the price. Then once it hit 90 2000 + copies magically show up. Shady shit. And I work for them.
yeah every single gamestop around me magically are in stock of these “preowned”.
