Famitsu is reporting that Monster Hunter 4 has sold 1.875 million copies in only two days on the market in Japan. Additionally, sales of Monster Hunter 4 helped move 3DS consoles, as Nintendo’s handheld moved 298 thousand units in that same two day time frame.
We recently reported that over 2 million copies of Monster Hunter 4 had shipped out to stores, but this is the first report to emerge of the actual staggering sales figures for the title. Capcom went into the launch of its latest Monster Hunter game with high expectations for sales numbers, and it appears the title has delivered, with gamers lining up in droves to get themselves a copy. Unfortunately, there is still no official word on a European or North American release, but with numbers like these, we imagine it will only be a matter of time until that announcement.
With this numbers after only it’s first two days Capcom really has little to nothing to lose by localizing it on the West. It’s just a matter of time now; probably around the time they come up with the first revision a la Bravely Default.
To be fair, Monster Hunter sells nothing in the West, it’s a really wasted effort. 2 Million in Japan, 500 thousand in the West considerin US + EU? It’s not worth it
Uh except MH3U sold very well in North America. Capcom said they were VERY pleased with it.

More like December 2013 – February 2014 we will get it. Games usually come to North America 6 months later but Capcom said they were speeding up development time back when we already knew about its launch date in Japan…so what else could they be speeding up? The other versions.
If we get the ultimate version I will not object but I agree it need to be at least be released before summer next year if it is this version.
Holy shit. MH4 just unleashed another horde of amazing 3DS sales in one country alone. Now lets get MH4 moving into Wii U with new content to help that system move units.

Capcom said they are not bringing it to the Wii U because the Wii U hasn’t sold that many and MH3 didn’t sell much on it compared to 3DS, thats why MH4 in on the 3DS. Maybe in the future if the Wii U sold more, then they might. But who knows?

the franchise must be super big in japan.
I been to Japan and the convenience stores sells MH merchandise like pens, key chains, lighters, drawing books etc. The series is as big as Pokemon

Nearly 2 million games but “only” 300 thousand consoles. I guess Capcom did the right choice when they dissed Play Station, the fans seems to already have done that. I really hope this game hits the west!

I really hope so. The detail and NPC looks like some kind of wild west era, isn’t it? I truly love MH since the PSP day so I really hope Capcom localizing this.
