The Wonderful 101 Update Arrives In The West

Nintendo of America has announced that The Wonderful 101 is set to receive an update today in North America and possibly Europe. Platinum Games say they have repaired the bug that disabled users from obtaining the Wonderful Figure No. 24 depending on the progress. The update also adds improvements to overall software usability. The update should automatically pop up on your Wii U system.

  1. I went back and forth on whether I should buy W101. I was excited for it after watching the Nintendo Direct dedicated to it. So I downloaded the demo, but didn’t get a chance to try it out. My 2 year old daughter loves “The Wii”, watches Netflix, and will try to play all of the different games I have installed. Within a week or so she had used up my 30 uses of the demo! She really likes to restart the game a lot. Anyways, I ended up deleting the W101 demo without having got a chance to try it out. I decided that I’d wait for other upcoming games on both Wii U and 3DS.

Well just last week my daughter was playing “The Wii” and she started saying “oh no, heroes, heroes daddy, oh no”. So I went to the eShop and showed her W101. She said “heroes!” So I had to buy it especially after originally wanting it myself.

After a couple of hours of playing, without my daughter stealing the GamePad from me, I wasn’t too sure if I was really going to like W101. However I’ve stuck with it and have learned the controls pretty well, but still not mastered them. I’m at least to the point where I occasionally feel like I’m kicking some a** and it’s a lot of fun. I think as I continue to get better with the controls I will continue liking the game even more. I’m glad I ended up not playing the demo. Else I probably wouldn’t have given the game enough time to really enjoy it.

    1. Glade your daughter wanted it.

My experience with the game has been similar to yours. I am now good enough at the controls that I don’t feel like rage quitting every time I play ( though I only did that a few times in the beginning the desire to do so lasted longer ).

  2. I stopped playing the game when wind waker hd released. I tried going back to it but I lost what little I had mastered from the controls. I might have to start from scratch to get used to them again.

  3. I can only get 2 of them for Christmas which ones should they be?

    1. The Wondeful 101
    2. Wii Party U
    3. Super Mario 3D World

    1. Look for a Toys R Us or some kind of Black Friday sale, that would have a buy 2 get one free?

Also, Family Gamer TV has an extensive look at Wii Party U, if that helps you decide…

    2. Randy, definitely Super Mario 3D World. If you’re more often gaming with friends and family, then I think you should get Wii Party U. I think the party games from NIntendo are too fun to pass up. I even really liked Game and Wario. Mainly because you can’t beat the fun of playing these games together with the people closest to you. Even a great game like W101 isn’t as much fun. Now if you usually play by yourself and also like a great challenge, then get W101. Ideally at some point you should probably get all three. I hope that I can.

  4. I’m glad that I’ve bought The Wonderful 101! The next games that I’ll be buying on the U later this year are Sonic Lost World, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, (maybe Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut), and Super Mario 3D World.

  5. I need to start playing this game again, I’ve been preoccupied with Wind Waker HD, BLOPS II and Rayman Legends lately.

  6. I haven’t played this from i got wind waker and pokemon. I will definitely go back to it now since the update. I saw it pop up on my wii u when i was playing rayman legends.
