Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has told investors that he would like to improve the Virtual Console lineup on both the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U. Iwata says that he doesn’t think they’ve taken full advantage of their extensive and critically acclaimed back catalogue and he hope’s the company can improve this going forward. What games would you like to see appear on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U Virtual Console?

“While Wii U and Nintendo 3DS already offer Virtual Console software, I feel that we have not been able to take full advantage of our assets yet, so we would like to enrich our Virtual Console lineup.”

      1. i find it rather silly how they have never even done this before. The virtual console would be one of the best ever if they could get their best gba, n64, gamecube games on them.

also did they change the layout or is my phone being dumb again

      1. IF Nintendo would buy back rare ips… not the company, just the ips and previous game publishing rights. COnker, Banjo Kazooie HD, DK, Perfect Dark, GOLDENEYE HD, battletoads, ect all on the WiiU VC… wow ….just wow.
        I can dream cant I?

        1. The Xbox division haven’t been profitable for Microsoft, and unless this generation goes well for them, I wouldn’t be suprised if they dropped out of console gaming.
If that happens, then the chances of getting Rare’s IPs back would increase. But don’t expect that to happen right away at least.

    1. Handhelds have always been the company’s bread and butter. Why would they want to slow down the monster potential the 3ds has to continue dominance in the dedicated handheld market? They need to create some partnerships with devs to create AAA games for the U exclusively.. open up the catalog to specific devs who will commit.

  1. They need to use VC smart, like when they released Kid Icarus: Uprising they also released the 3D classic Kid Icarus and Myths and Monsters for the 3DS VC. That way they caught people who bought Kid Icarus: Uprising and they made people who bought the VC title for a very much affordable price wanna buy Uprising as well.
Now they should release Luigi’s Mansion for the Wii U VC and marketing it on the 3DS channels like Nintendo Video and Nintendo Letter Box (if they just open up the SpotPass function first) especially for costumers who have bought Luigi’s Mansion 2. In that way they will make 3DS owners wanna buy a Wii U and Wii U owners are going to want buy a 3DS and play the sequel when they bought the original for their VC on Wii U.

    1. I know right? With LBW coming out for the 3DS, you’d think LttP would already be on the same console for this exact reason. I’ve played it and still want it, and I’m sure those who haven’t would like the chance.

  2. Why does most of the people here say gamecube only? Is that when you guys grew up? Sad.
N64 and gamecube for wii u nuff said.

    1. I want it all, NES through GameCube. Wii VC has been out for years and it still hasn’t even scraped the surface of all the classics Nintendo has to offer. I’m hoping Capcom remasters Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse for SNES, that would be a nice little touch for me :p

  3. They’ve got a huge back catalog. Use it to help sell your system. Flood it with all the old favorites people want. Put as many NES, SNES, and N64 games as you possibly can on there.

  4. It would make sense to have gamecube games for Wii U, and GBA for 3DS.
I kinda hoped we would get them soon after release but nevermind.
Also it would be nice if they added everything from the Wii virtual console onto the Wii U eshop, so we can play the vast catalogue of games already on there like N64 games and SNES etc.

  5. how about just put all the nintendo owned gb, gbc, gba, NES, SNES, N64, GC, hell even make DS and Wii games downloadable. Put them up at least 10 a week

  6. I so hope we get DKC1 and DKC2 soon, as well as N64 Virtual console games like Super Mario 64 and DK64. Sadly the DKC games may be out of the question since Rare developed them, but hopefully because Nintendo owns the rights to Donkey Kong they can make it work.

    1. I know they HAD the DKC games for the Wii VC and then took them down for whatever reason, so not sure if it’s possible. I have 1 & 2 (fuck 3 all the way, kiddy kong ruined it for me along with the kiddy animals and no Donkey or Diddy) on my Wii/Wii U but having them on the gamepad would be far better than using the classic wii controllers.

  7. Metroid Fusion, Contra, Tetris, Donkey Kong Country 3, Pokemon Pinball, X-Men Mutant Apocalypse, Yoshi’s Island, Spiderman And The X-Men In Arcade’s Revenge, Mario Paint, StarFox

The following aren’t for me but still need to be on VC: The Minish Cap, The Lost Vikings, The Lost Vikings 2

That’s my list. Make it happen, Nintendo.

  8. Steps to vitalizing the Wii U
    1. Market it better, the too many people who think it’s just a Wii.
    2. New IP’s Zelda and Mario are awesome, don’t stop making them, but it’s time we see some new 1st party Jrpg’s, military shooters, mmo’s, ect..
    3. The Wii U is connected to the internet, use that to your advantage, host Nintendo tournaments, fund raisers, make it a point to reach as many people as you can.
    4. More compatibility between the Wii U, and 3DS, why not? There’s a lot you could do.

Lastly, surpass Sony and Microsoft, make 3rd party devs knock your doors down, and shut up the ignorant fucking 12 year old trolls.

  9. Off topic but when’s the last time we heard anything about that game Myamoto has been working on? I feel it’s been quite some time. Any recent posts or updates on that I may have missed?

  10. What takes this company so long to do stuff . I’m losing my patience with Nintendo . The virtual console is one of their important parts to the wii U – retro gaming is at a all time high – with HD releases etc . So why can’t nintendo release more than a couple of VC titles a week. And why isn’t GBA on 3DS when the ambassadors have it and why isn’t N64 games on the Wii U already when they are on the Wii. This guy has got it wrong all of the time – nintendo as a company needs a huge shake up … I for one would be sorry to nintendo go thru something like that – but I wouldn’t be surprised – to see disney come to the rescue

  11. Hm, the only Nintendo-made N64 games I’d be interested in are Super Mario 64, Lylat Wars (Star Fox) and Pilotwings 64. As for Gamecube, the only one I can think of is Super Mario Sunshine (Wind Waker won’t happen and the rest of the great GC games were not made by Nintendo). But I would like to see Link to the Past on VC. But they are probably doing a remake or something…

    1. You know, I’d also love to see mario sunshine brought to the VC, it was such a beautiful and simply fun game! I know they have the Ocarina of time and Majora’s mask for download on the wii capability from the WiiU, but I’d love to see MM get an update!! The HD Windwaker was simply gorgeous! As for starfox, YES! I agree, and quite possibly final fantasy crystal chronicles! that would be fun to see hahaha!

  12. I want to see all of the old handheld Pokemon games on the 3ds eShop, and all of the ones for consoles on the WiiU eShop. If they did that I would probably buy a WiiU.

  13. I love Nintendo but I really dislike how my 3ds and WiiU eshop accounts are joined somehow. In my perfect dream world I would be able to play a link to the past on my WiiU pause and transfer my game over to my 3ds, continue my journey on the subway and bus ride and then revert my game back to my WiiU when I get home.
I can’t even imagine how much money I’ve spent on Mario bros 1 for the NES over all of nintendo’s consoles, but a universal linked account would be much appreciated.
Or a yearly subscription to a giant collection of streamed Nintendo software.

    1. YUSSS. I would love to have the kind of save file connections Monster Hunter 3 players get with all of my games, its a big reason i havent gotten a WiiU yet.

  14. Meanwhile FANS have been saying this for months =)
Don’t get me wrong, Urban Champion and Clu Clu Land have their charms… for some people… but variety is desperately needed.
N64, Gamecube, some of those awesome Genesis, Turbo-Grafix 16, SMS, Arcade, etc. games the Wii VC managed to snag, ANYTHING is welcome at this point besides a meager one to two oldies per week.

  15. GENESIS– Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, and 3, Streets of Rage 1, 2, and 3. Golden Axe II, Joe Montana Sports Talk Football II, NBA Jam Tournament Edition.

SATURN– Virtua Fighter 1 and 2, Daytona USA Circuit Championship Edition, X-Men vs. Street Fighter (Japanese), Virtua Cop.

DREAMCAST– NFL 2K series, NBA 2K series, Soul Calibur, Cannon Spike, Daytona USA 2011, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skating series, Chu Chu Rocket, Sonic Adventures 1 and 2.

  17. I would really like to see Gamecube and Gameboy Advance games hit their virtual console. I’ve been really wanting to play the first Battalion Wars, Advance Wars, and a slew of GBA games like Golden Sun, Tales of Phantasia, etc.

  18. Then how about some N64 and GameCube VC games with Off-TV play, Nintendo? It would be all kinds of awesome. Eh? Eh?

  19. definatly the eggerland games and dkc games on one disc for the wii u they would make a bomb in sales also the game boy dk games+the lolo game

  20. He thinks they haven’t? OF COURSE THEY HAVEN’T! Gosh, it seem like Nintendo just doesn’t get it. Good Lord.
