    1. Also nuts to the complaints about the controls. It’s not for gaming beginners, sure, but they work great if you just get the hand position right.

      1. No, the controls were bad, sure you can get used to them, but they were quite bad(land controls). Even Nintendo knows it, why else do you think they included a stand for a handheld game?

          1. The controls were bad at all, it was way better than regular duel analog which is like controlling a tank. Instead of the stylus I used my thumb, it actually was the easiest FPS type game to get into in a really long time.

        1. Strongly disagree. Went straight into the game without any problems at all. Didn’t use the stand once. Again, I’m sure it wasn’t great for people that don’t play a lot of games, but for me it was perfect.
Support the DS with the the bottom of the right palm, directly below the little finger and it’s just seamless. Hands never cramped up or anything. And using a touch screen to aim on a game like that is better than a second analogue stick/circle pad. So much more precise. Couldn’t praise it enough.
I imagine Nintendo included the stand for the aforementioned beginners. I can’t imagine it was helpful anyway.

And all this says nothing about the charm of the game, the characters. The difficulty. The multiplayer. The collectibles. Just fantastic, all of it.

        2. Nah you were playing it wrong

the controls are very good and I love how accurate and easy to use

even Sakurai said, if you think they are bad then you are playing it wrong

          1. So just because someone thinks the controls were bad, they weren’t playing it right? I got used to the controls right away, played throught the story mode various times, battled and won many multiplayer, but even I still think the controls are bad. So you I’m playing it wrong? What is the right way?

            1. Ask Sakurai, I was quoting him, the man behind the game, don’t shoot the messenger for what he said

I played it lots of time with complete perfection and with not control problems, and the controls were tight and responsive

I don’t see why people think they are bad when they are very responsive and tight

      2. It was more of a mind sync than bad controller scheme. After one level, I had acclimated. I had the same thing happen with Phantom Hourglass. Simply a new way to control a game, so it took a second to shake my usual habits.

        Definitely a game worth playing.

  1. Being left handed I couldn’t fully enjoy this game. ): And yes I know about the circle pad pro. It just sucks you couldn’t invert the controls on your 3ds like some other games offer.

    1. I personally like Fire Emblem Awakening and Sin Megami Tensei IV more but Kid Icarus UR is still a fantastic game with great multiplayer. 3DS has so many great games and more on the way.

  3. I LOVE this game and it is one of my fav DS titles (2nd only to FE: Awakening). on a 3dsXL i couldn’t play long sessions, but I bet it would play great on a 2ds.

I think the controls are creative and intuitive. you just have to break your preconceived notions about how a game “should” be played.

  4. So a week went by and still no video comparison of Wii U vs PS4. Sure I could go by the spec sheet even though it ignores that 8 of PS4 cores ain’t all used for gaming and one Wii U core outperforms a PS4 core. And Xbox one advantage over the PS4 has edram but the spec sheet doesn’t do that. A video comparison with 3rd party developers not showing favoritism over another console putting just as much effort and allllllllllll consoles and comparing visuals. Its easy to put 1080P 60fps in a system you love.

    1. Comparing the same third party game across two consoles is still biased. Generally they are developed with a particular console in mind and then adapted for the others. They lose something in the adaptation.

  5. It’s an amazing game, and don’t listen to complaints about the controls, they simply take some practice, the key trick is learning the touch-screen ‘flick and tap’ method to control the camera angle, once you’ve got that you realise how very precise the controls are and how much unnecessary strain and work you have been giving your hands.. I imagine any awkwardness is overcome with the bigger 3DS XL, too. The ergonomics of the handheld were the problem.

Regardless, the game is rammed with content, has one of Nintendo’s best soundtracks ever, and it create a huge new mythos and cast for Kid Icarus, they even nabbed in some top voice acting talent, such as Tara Strong and Cree Summer. It is in every way a AAA title. It has stormed it’s way into my Top 10 games of all time.
