Following yesterday’s screenshot featuring the redesigned capsules, this latest screenshot for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. features a face off between two beloved characters, Marth and Link. Director Masahiro Sakurai once again took to Miiverse, commenting on the sharp tip of Marth’s sword. Will Link regain some of his lost power, or will Marth be able to easily beat him out in this next installment of the series?

“Marth’s sword has a powerful tip! So we gave his sword slashes a sharp look with an emphasis on its edge.”

    1. Dude, I love playing like that, because then you can see how truly good you are. I only do that against the game’s opponents, though, not real people.

  1. The game looks great, I can’t wait for it! I just hope that the 3DS version won’t hold back the Wii U version, as the possibilities with the Wii U are limitless! Power is no longer holding them back, so they can make everything they’ve ever dreamed about having in Smash!

      1. No, it wasn’t a joke. I just sick and tired on seeing people wreck MNN apart because it reports the news later than other websites. I saying if they are bitching about this, why they keep coming to the website? There’s other more up-to-date websites than this one, they’re no obligated to come here. besides, the comment section is getting flooded with trolls and haters fanboys. I love this website, but seriously….

    1. What the hell are you on about? Rehashed? There are three previous entries in the series, so I would hold my horses if I were you. Besides, it’s a fighting game, what could they change?

  2. Wait a minute! The Master Sword is supposed to be the Blade of Evil’s Bane! It should be sharp-looking too!

That aside, this is some cool new attention to detail.

    1. “… an emphasis on it’s edge.”

“Will Link regain some of his lost power, or will Marth be able to easily beat him out…”

  3. Wake me when he finally unveils another never seen before Smash Bros. Character. These non earth shattering suprises of characters from previous Smash Bros. games bore me.

  4. Seeing this makes me wish Sakurai can just confirm Takamaru already. At least Nazo no Murasame-Jo’s anniversary is the March of next year and that would be the perfect time to reveal him in conjunction with the possible Wii U Virtual Console of his game.
