A Nintendo of America customer service representative has confirmed via email that the Nintendo 3DS version of Miiverse won’t support message exchange between friends, or even friend requests. A NeoGAF member was curious as to why the Miiverse 3DS screens released lacked the messages icon present in the Wii U version. He then decided to contact customer service to find out exactly why that was. He was told that the 3DS version of Miiverse will not support message exchanges between friends or the friend request feature. It’s basically just the community features.

Another thing I’m wondering about is if we’ll be able to post the pictures we have taken while playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf onto the Animal Crossing Community on Miiverse. (You know how if you pause a game on the Wii U, and go into the proper community you can post a picture of your screen… that sort of thing.)
Honestly, not too surprised. I usually only use the community features anyway. And there is always a chance for updates.

I don’t see how you can better protect Children from perverts when Children will STILL have to go to online forums to exchange friend codes/NNID’s…areas which are outside Nintendo’s control, whereas on Miiverse, they could have kept an eye on it if friend requests and messages were in place.
Also, it ISN’T Nintendo’s job to look after kids beyond providing parental controls. Many people are saying kids can work around these, well okay fine, so show some backbone and discipline them for breaking the rules you’ve set down as an adult.

No friend requests and no messaging is a dissapointment. But, expected… At least for the time being. Maybe later they’ll update Miiverse 3DS with those options. But I think the community features are still fun and enticing enough to use Miiverse.
