Surprisingly Nintendo has finally released a region-free game for the Nintendo 3DS. However, you shouldn’t get too excited as the title is the Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre. The guide is available in both digital and physical format. Nintendo has confirmed that both the Western edition of the game, which are available in North America, Europe and Australasia, will work across the listed regions. Kotaku believes that the reason the game is region-free is due to the fact that it’s an interactive guide of an art museum and not a game. Therefore the product doesn’t have to be rated or classified.

Look for Mass Effect 3. It kicks ass, great graphics, you will enjoy at least 2 playthroughs, and multiplayer is fun as hell. Should be cheap now.

Considering the low installed base it did very well in fact better than the majority of games on xbox360 and ps3 and those have 80 million each.

Only suppress it. Piracy will always happen no matter the measures taken because they’ll always find ways around it and one of them is “physically stealing”

Region lock doesn’t affect most people, like me. So Nintendo is not wrong by making region lock games. While, yes, more possibilities can happen if things were region-free, but Nintendo wants to do what is good for business. We are not entitled to anything.

Region locking sometimes ENCOURAGES piracy. My friend.. uh.. Bob speaks Japanese, so he wants to play some 3ds titles in Japanese. Bob doesn’t mind paying for the titles he want to play, but the only way to do that legally is to buy two systems. Does anyone think Bob isn’t just gonna go SD card shopping instead?
